in your closet, in your head.
It all happens in a matter of moments. Your friends, your companions, and even some people you aren't all that fond of; everyone who took so much as a bite of the spirits' feast suddenly collapses into a comatose heap. Which is bad enough already, but the worst, by far, is yet to come.
Before anyone can really figure out what's happened to the sleepers, the woods surrounding the town come alive with sound. Rustling, screeching, clicking, howling, and under it all, the characteristic hoots and whistles of the forest spirit tongue. But these aren't the friendly creatures that set up the banquet in the first place, and they aren't the familiar faces (or masks) from around Beacon. As they begin to emerge, bursting forth from the trees, these spirits reveal themselves as a horrifying army of terrors. And sprinkled among them, distinguishable by the emerald glint in their sockets, are the infamous "green eyes", the dangerous spirits that appeared once before.
Attempting to talk to these spirits is a moot point, made obvious by their immediate assault on anyone they get close to. They attack with claws and teeth, with limbs far stronger than they have any right to be, and the green eyes, as they are wont to do, will try to get into your head. Somehow, they seem to know what it is that scares you most, and they don't seem too hesitant to use it. It's not clear what they want— are they here to eradicate you? To frighten you? To send a message?
Whatever the case, one thing is very clear: you and everyone else, sleeping or waking, are in serious danger. Are you ready to defend Beacon?

Lunafreya Nox Fleuret | ota
[ When two of her closest friends literally drop onto the ground fast asleep, the first thing Lunafreya does is check for pulses. They are still alive, but no matter what she does, Ignis and Noctis will not rouse. She doesn't have a lot of time to think, though, because she can hear noises, and they make her stiffen. Something bad is happening, and it is happening now.
When the chaos begins, Lunafreya can be found pulling her two friends to the best of her abilities, using her Trident to fend anything and everything off in her path, wishing desperately that one of her Gods could be called to come to her aid right now.
All she has to do is make it to the Invincible. Piece of cake, right? ]
[ The Invincible ]
[ With a little help and a lot of luck, she's managed to maneuver her two companions to the Invincible. For now, they are safe. She's cut up and bruised herself but hardly paying attention to that, because she is very busy stalking around, looking for others who may be injured so that she can do what she can for their injuries and fatigue.
If you are injured and looking for a healer, you've found your girl. ]
[ Wildcard; outside ]
[ Lunafreya will not wander far from the Invincible, but she stalks around outside, ready to do her best to fight back any oncoming spirits that may be trying to attack or get in. She will be able to happy to help carry sleepers inside and do her part to heal, but for the most part she will be prowling the premises to make sure she can do what she can to keep those on the inside as safe as possible.
Bring it on, this Oracle fears very, very little. ]
Beginning
There's a gun in the flesh hand, and the metal hand comes to grab Noctis by the back of his shirt and heave him up over their shoulder. The Soldier recognizes Lunafreya: she's the one who's kept coming to the house to help heal Crowley. That doesn't make her a friend (friends require actual interaction, and a lot of it), but it does make her an ally. That means she doesn't get a growl.
Instead: "I will carry him," they say, voice flat but not unkind, expression intent and maybe a little grim. "And cover you. Get to the inn."
no subject
She breathes a sigh of relief, nodding to them. "Your help is very much appreciated... you have no idea how much," she begins, looking off into the forest as the trees begin to move and more hisses and cries and screams begin. "Come, we must move swiftly. Are you ready?"

She begins to run, dragging poor Ignis but she thinks he'll forgive her if he ever wakes up, ducking and dodging spirits left and right when she can, and slamming her Trident through one of them who has the audacity to let out a shrill shriek and try to come at them head first. She glances back at the Soldier, making sure that he, too, is still alright. The last thing she wants is for him to get hurt on their account, after all.

Checking on the Soldier is a distraction. "Don't look at me. Move!"
And the knife gets thrown at something over her shoulder, thudding right into the middle of the mask of the spirit she speared, that wasn't quite dead yet. Or whatever state spirits get to when they stop attacking, and in fact stop moving and crumple to the ground. The knife managed to finish the job on that one.

She doesn't respond when Bucky tells her to move, she knows better. Knows that they're right, especially as she looks back at the spirit, writing at the end of her trident. It stops moving after the Soldier's dagger hits it, and she knows that this is probably only bought time. It's temporary, because she has a terrible feeling that these things aren't dying, that somehow they're going to come back. They're spirits, after all, and isn't that their nature?
Either way, the jaunt from the cabin to the Invincible is a long, perilous one, and enough time has been wasted. She shakes her trident, letting whatever disgusting ghostly residue fling off the end before she moves again, her grip on Ignis tightening as the next wave of spirits screech and head their way. As she slams her free shoulder into one, knocking it down to the ground, slamming her weapon through it while a leg comes out to trip up a spirit trying to come up from behind. She's no fighter by any stretch of the imagination, but she's doing her best; her brother was the one with the military combat training, after all.
She catches a glimpse of glowing emerald eyes peering at them from the trees, and though she keeps moving, though she's certain the Soldier can see it as well, she calls out, "Be careful, one of the more aggressive ones is watching!"

They don't even bother, really, with making sure of kill shots. They aren't wasting bullets here, there's too many and the knife if safer when there's potential friendlies on the playing field. They're focusing on plowing a path through and hurling assailants away from their friend-shaped cargo and from Lunafreya. So it might not be so much a new wave as a resurgence of the old one.
At Luna's shout, when they're almost at the bonfire and it's the firelight that reflects the green glow, it says, "I saw. I'm tracking it. Keep moving. We're almost there." Well, for a given value of "almost". They're closer to the inn than to the village houses, anyway.

The end is in sight; or rather, it will be. Because they're moving past the Bonfire and back towards the Invincible. She doesn't know what awaits them there, for all she knows it's just as overrun.
She looks up, and there are no eyes in the trees anymore, and it sets her on edge. She knows that thing is still around, knows it's following them -- except it's not following them anymore. It doesn't have to, because it swings down from the trees with a wild scream; Lunafreya barely as time to duck down with wide eyes. "Watch out!"
no subject
Well, and some claws will get through to its face and chest, but that's okay, the former will heal quickly enough, and the latter is covered in kevlar and leather. No spirit claws are going to get through that.
invincible.
she's out foraging for medical supplies at one point and comes back to find the young woman looking a little bit wearier, the bruises and cuts standing out starkly on her skin. dana sets what she's found on the table and approaches her, canting her head towards her face to try and look in her eyes and see how fatigued she is. ]
You've been doing really well here. How are you feeling?
no subject
She's been in and out, too; mostly leaving to prowl the parameter of the Invincible to make sure that those fleeing are able to get in, and to make damned sure to keep unwanted spirits out. Between the lack of sleep, taking a beating on and off, and the fact that her magic does in fact come directly from her life source... she is exhausted. She blinks a few times, straightening as Dana approaches and then speaks. ]
Oh! Goodness, thank you so much for your kind words. You, too, have been doing very well. Admittedly, I am just a tad bit... tired. But what of yourself, dear? You, too, must be feeling weary.
no subject
Thank you. I'm okay, I'm used to this. [ she waves her hand at their surroundings, from those slumbering to those taking a minute to rest after being patched up. ] We're kind of quiet for now, do you want to take a moment?
no subject
You've been very busy. If anyone needs the rest, it is you. Come, sit for a while. [ Lunafreya is already sitting on the floor, and she pats the space next to her. ] We can rest together, at least for a little while, yes?
i am so sorry for the wait, the holiday/winter storm got the best of me.
she smiles, taking the offered seat beside her, and nods as she settles into the position. her feet are practically crying with relief, she flexes and points her toes inside her shoes and rotates her head from side to side. ]
Thank you. [ after a moment, she extends her hand to shake, if lunafreya wants to. ] My name is Dana, by the way.
