EVENT LOG: WILD HEART PART TWO

EVENT LOG:
WILD HEART PART TWO
characters: everyone.
location: all over town.
date/time: march 23-26.
content: in the aftermath of the kidnapping, recovery begins and information comes to light.
warnings: n/a
everything has changed and now i can't tell what matters.
Welcome to part two of the WILD HEART event! Kimiko and the Hunt are here to stay for the next three days, and will be answering all your questions below. If you've got questions for us, hit up the OOC post! Further details on how the Wild Hunt will work as a longterm mechanic will be released in our next gameplan, so stay tuned!
Certain status effects lingering from the torture have been sent out to a few random players, and have all been sent out at this point!

RECOVERY
For the next three days, the Wild Hunt seems intent on making themselves as useful as possible. To that end, they've set up a few temporary stations.
In survival skills, they'll teach others how to set traps, make rudimentary weapons, and find shelter within the woods. The teacher there is firm, but by the end of the first day, has set up a small competition to see who can make the most efficient traps and weapons, with prizes including small toolkits, perfect for home repair, and, oddly enough, small pieces of candy.
The station at the Greenhouse is all about horticulture and farming both. They teach skills about how to plant and grow food effectively, as well as what seeds require what kind of care, how to tend to flowers, and what plants are most useful in healing. There are no prizes in his lessons, unfortunately, but for characters who stay long enough, he'll show them his pride and joy: a flower in a pot that blooms only in the light of the moon.
Finally, over in medical training, there's a woman who knows her stuff when it comes to first aid. From sutures to emergency response, she'll teach characters how to deal with most common injuries. She even has a practice test dummy, who bears the unfortunate scars of lessons long since past. Characters can learn CPR, how to effectively administer stitches, tend to burns, and other such necessities.
While they won't always work for free, at least right now, the Wild Hunt seems intent on charity. Lessons are offered freely, services given without any thought of payment.

THE HUNT
[The woman who stands behind the bonfire seems, if not at ease with herself, at least outwardly calm. Her hand are clasped behind her back, her stance steady as she waits for everyone to settle down and around.]
Good evening.
My name, for those of you who missed it, is Kimiko Yasutake. I'm the current leader of the Wild Hunt. You may have seen us around . . . I'm sorry if we ever scared you, but supplies are limited, and frankly, it's easier to steal a suit than try and make one. Ordinarily, we live out in the mines.
We've a group of people from past resets. People who were just like you once. We woke on the ferry after our deaths, and for a time, we lived in this town and tried to get on with our lives.
But that wasn't enough.
[She pauses, then. Takes a breath, hesitates, and then resolves herself.]
I-- before I go on, I want to tell you a bit about myself. I think it will help you all understand.
I was a farmer when I was alive. A rice farmer, specifically. My entire family was, and we always had been. And we had a horse. Just the one. She was a vital part of it, though; without her, my father couldn't take as much into town to sell.
And then one day, she misstepped and broke her leg.
Horses can't recover from that. I don't know if any of you have ever dealt with one, but they just can't. It's inhumane to keep them alive afterwards, never mind try and set the leg. It's agony for them, and it usually ends with their deaths regardless. But we needed that horse, and so he tried.
And then, three days later, we had to put her down anyway, because she was suffering. Only a sadist would have kept her alive.
This world is broken. You must see that. It was vibrant once, alive, just as we all once were, but that's gone now, and you can't grasp for things you've lost. You can't . . . this isn't life. It's a pale imitation of it.
So please . . . try to understand what I mean when I tell you that the Wild Hunt's goal is not to hurt others. We have no interest in making you suffer in the least.
But to allow this place to live is every bit as cruel as my father leaving that horse alive was. It's selfish to keep that portal open, to force tens of hundreds of souls into living here only to be reset or killed or eaten. And I refuse to allow it to keep happening. I simply will not, I cannot in good consciousness force others to go through this over and over again.
We're the Fire Snatchers, yes. Because we believe that extinguishing the lanterns, the bonfire, the lighthouse, and killing this world once and for all is the only humane thing to do. Even if it kills we all of us stuck here as well.
[There's a pause, and then Kimiko exhales slowly.]
If you have questions, I'll be around for three more days.

Recovery
[His stomach is empty, but considering the last thing he put in his mouth was some very raw mystery meat, he’d rather be certain of the thing Quentin has in his hand.]
no subject
[It's not much, and it's not good chocolate. Because Quentin doesn't eat candy anymore and what little he tried to get at the market, went to Vanitas except for the few chocolate hearts Sora hung on his door a month ago.
Or, maybe it was good chocolate. Quentin hasn't even tried to eat one, since just opening the box made him gag.
He holds out the chocolate heart.]
You can have it. You look like you need it.
no subject
...This made me realize just how hungry I was. [And he pops the rest right into his mouth and lets it melt.]
no subject
[It's not like Quentin needs them. He fumbles around in his pockets until he finds the other ones.]
Here. Are you... okay? Okay, so I know that's a stupid question, because obviously you're not okay but.

Hunt[ private to Quentin

They fucking chose to walk away. They made us wait a WHOLE day, before showing us where the rest of us were.
no subject
If you do hear of anyone deciding their approach is the right one, let me know. We'll need to keep a close eye on people like that.
no subject
What? No? What? I mean, sure let's talk to them, sure, if someone here thinks that burning this whole place to the ground is the best way to do it. But watching them? How? Why? And who do we tell, if someone suddenly wants to end it all?

Hunt - Private - @Grandmaster
More than likely some will turn against each other. I've seen it happen before.
Private
Only if we let it. We can do better than this, I know we can.

We can absolutely do better than that.

recovery. (hope a late tag here is okay!)
[ Sora's full up, actually; the tin will be for someone unspecified who's ready for solid food. Nah, he's more personally interested in the bandages. He's fresh out. He leans over to inspect the rolls, actually... ]
Wait, are those bedsheets? That's a good idea.
It is ALWAYS okay!
[So, yes. It's a little rambly as Quentin tries to find some food for the tin Sora is holding out. He turns just in time to see Sora bent over the bandages and he shrugs and nods at the same time.]
This isn't the first time that someone got hurt. And- and so, yes. Bed sheets are easier to find, easy to rip apart and I have... I mean, I had a lot of them lying around. It's not like I need that many bed sheets and covers anyway, right?
ty! :)
Rambly's fine! Sora prefers rambly to unfriendly any day, especially after a day like this. ]
I guess you'd only need the one, huh. [ Still, that's pretty cool of him. Sora peeks at this guy. Not familiar with the face, and it doesn't seem likely to him that someone new would randomly accumulate way too many bedsheets for them to use in under two months. ] Not your first rodeo, huh? Were you here for the siege thing?
no subject
[He says it neutrally, like it didn't feel like his soul was being ripped apart every single time something like this happened. The Feast, the Siege, and the endless sleep of half the town. The slaughter in the streets. The hallucinations that almost killed him. The random encounters with spirits that killed Eliot so dead not even Solis could find all the pieces and put him back together again.]
This is the first time they took some of us, though. The Wild Hunt are also new. This isn't the first time someone got hurt. [But the scales this time... and Quentin looks up through his bangs and holds out a few rolls of bandages.]
Are you hurt? I can't-- okay, so I'm not really that good at healing spells, but I'm getting pretty good at patching people up?

bonfire /laaaaate
She hears Quentin's voice from somewhere nearby and diverts from her walk to the general store to check on him.]
I don't need one. How much of that do you have?
It's ALL good
[Which tracks? In a horrible kind of way, because there were whispers filtering down already, about what the kidnapped ones had been forced to do. What had been forced on them and it tracks that they'd want clean water more than food. To wash away the taste of... well. He nods and points at the few open cans of mystery food sitting on the rock close by.]
I've been trying to make sure to ask everyone. Everyone who came this way, anyway. We should have... fuck! We could have used that day for something important, you know? Set up an aid station, found something to transport the injured on or in. We could have-- [He snaps his mouth shut, cutting off whatever words he was about to spew, because the Hunt had wasted everyone's time. He clenches his jaw and huffs an annoyed breath through his nose.]
Are you hurt?
Re: It's ALL good
More people might have died if they had waited. And they didn't know what would be needed after.
At his question, she shakes her head.]
Save that stuff for people who need it. I didn't get hurt. [She gives him a closer look, watching for any sign that he is.]
What about you?
no subject
[Head still ringing from the gunshots and the hallucinations, but he shrugs. He got off easy. All things considered.]
Could you get more water? If the general store is low, maybe you can find some at the Invincible. I don't want to leave and maybe miss someone. Or- or you can stay here, talk to people and I'll find what I need.
