EVENT LOG: ENTER MR SANDMAN (DEFENDERS)

EVENT LOG:
ENTER MR. SANDMAN (DEFENDERS)

characters: those who signed up as defenders for the event
location: all around Beacon
date/time: november 16-29
content: the defenders attempt to drive off a spirit invasion
warnings: lots of horror! body horror, psychological horror, gore, violence, etc.. please cw all threads where appropriate! mods will do the same

in your closet, in your head.

It all happens in a matter of moments. Your friends, your companions, and even some people you aren't all that fond of; everyone who took so much as a bite of the spirits' feast suddenly collapses into a comatose heap. Which is bad enough already, but the worst, by far, is yet to come.

Before anyone can really figure out what's happened to the sleepers, the woods surrounding the town come alive with sound. Rustling, screeching, clicking, howling, and under it all, the characteristic hoots and whistles of the forest spirit tongue. But these aren't the friendly creatures that set up the banquet in the first place, and they aren't the familiar faces (or masks) from around Beacon. As they begin to emerge, bursting forth from the trees, these spirits reveal themselves as a horrifying army of terrors. And sprinkled among them, distinguishable by the emerald glint in their sockets, are the infamous "green eyes", the dangerous spirits that appeared once before.

Attempting to talk to these spirits is a moot point, made obvious by their immediate assault on anyone they get close to. They attack with claws and teeth, with limbs far stronger than they have any right to be, and the green eyes, as they are wont to do, will try to get into your head. Somehow, they seem to know what it is that scares you most, and they don't seem too hesitant to use it. It's not clear what they want— are they here to eradicate you? To frighten you? To send a message?

Whatever the case, one thing is very clear: you and everyone else, sleeping or waking, are in serious danger. Are you ready to defend Beacon?

Crowley has never seen the spirits like this before. They've always been creepy but harmless, sitting back and letting them do their---well, their thing in this town without bothering them. He's always said he thought they were up to no good, but he's had no real indication of it, not until now. Now, it's obvious that they were just out to hurt them. That they've always been out to hurt them.

He deposits the second person onto the ground with a graceless flop and heads back outside. The human soldier person is drawing all of the spirits to him, which is good, he supposes----for a while. Eventually, he'll be overwhelmed. Can't have that happen.

"Need any help?" he calls back, flying over him and heading towards more sleeping people.

Not yet, but maybe in a little bit. The Soldier doesn't bother to say as much, too busy ducking and rolling, punching and slashing, throwing spirits away from itself, from the table. Sometimes they're almost a blur, but the spirits are fast, too. It's collecting injuries, but so far they're all small and easily ignorable.

"Keep going," they call instead, following the order up with a bullet point-blank in a gangly spirit's chest.

Xayah is trying to keep the distance as she shoots and carries the people towards the Invincible. She already made two travels back and forth, although with only one person at a time. The things were growing dire and she joins them in the fight, sniping down several spirits that had lifted tree trunk to toss at Crowley and Bucky.

"Look out!"

With the spirits stumbling back from the shots, the tree trunk just falls freely down with a crash.

"There's too many of them! We have to pull back!"

Crowley grabs another person and looks around at how incredibly busy it is getting around here. There's a lot of them, aren't there? And here he is, really not the sort of person able to just leap in and defend.

"Xayah's right," he says. "We can get the rest of them later. We have to protect the ones already in the Invincible."

He shouts over to the human soldier person.

"Come on, let's go!"

The Soldier springs at the spirit that had been aiming the tree trunk at them, taking advantage of the surprise to slice an arm off. They're maybe a little over-focused on fighting at the moment... not quite sunk into the Asset, into a memory of a mission, but definitely zeroed in on enemies and offense rather than trying to rescue anyone else.

But Crowley's shout gets their attention, at least, and they roll back. They're injured, but not badly enough to get in the way. The roll brings them back to their feet and they bolt towards Crowley. Assuming the shout means he's in trouble, more than just wanting to retreat.

She tries to cower Crowley the best she can- her fingers were getting numb from throwing her weapons and recalling them over and over again. One of the spirits shoots something back at her and she dodges it in the last second.

Fighting and retreating it's the best they can do. Springing off her feet, she floats over to the door to push them wide open for them to carry in the people as quickly as possible. Crowley is already stumbling into the building which only leaves Bucky.

"We're in, pull back! Come on!" Please don't die there...!

Crowley flaps his wings to get back into the air, one last person in his arms as he darts towards the Invincible. They'll get the rest of them, he tells himself, but they can't just die in the process. He has to make sure Aziraphale is safe back there.

He zips through the door Xayah holds open and lays another person on the ground, before turning back to face the door.

"Hurry!" he shouts to the human soldier person. He hods up a hand, ready to miracle all of the furniture to hold the door shut the moment he's inside.

If Crowley is moving, the Soldier is following, at least. They come barreling through the Invincible door, looking around for additional hostiles, and looking vaguely confused and annoyed to only find sleeping people and allies.

Plenty of time to close the door behind them.

She leaves the doors to Crowley to barricade up and moves back, pulling the people away from the entrance. They'll have bruises but they'll be more than alive. She's crouching by the bar when she spots long, long tendrils of something following after Bucky as he rushes through the door.

"Crowley the door!"

Whatever you planned to do- it's a good time to do it!

Crowley waves a hand and the doors slam, with furniture scrambling all over itself to hold it shut.

"How many did we get? How many did we see left out there?" he demands, putting the person in his arms on the ground. He looks over to Aziraphale, still asleep. Why, oh, why did he let him eat the spirit's food? Crowley knew nothing good was going to come from this.
worthallthis: (confused)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2019-12-11 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
The Soldier half-turns, ready to take on whatever might be coming through the door, except suddenly there is no open door and no enemy. It frowns a vaguely confused sort of frown, flicks blood off its knives and the metal hand, and looks around. No more enemies. What are they supposed to do now?

(Defense, asshat. There's too many windows in this fucking place.)

The Soldier shakes themselves all over, but can't find actual words to say that out loud. Or to answer questions. They find Crowley and shake their head apologetically.

Xayah takes a deep breath when the door closes and then checks under her coat on her lantern. Good, still intact. Then glances between them.

"We got in as many as we could. Stop beating yourself up over it," she says and stands to push more furniture to the sides and move people they brought in to lay down properly instead of in heaps and all over each other.
