EVENT LOG: ENTER MR SANDMAN (DEFENDERS)

EVENT LOG:
ENTER MR. SANDMAN (DEFENDERS)

characters: those who signed up as defenders for the event
location: all around Beacon
date/time: november 16-29
content: the defenders attempt to drive off a spirit invasion
warnings: lots of horror! body horror, psychological horror, gore, violence, etc.. please cw all threads where appropriate! mods will do the same

in your closet, in your head.

It all happens in a matter of moments. Your friends, your companions, and even some people you aren't all that fond of; everyone who took so much as a bite of the spirits' feast suddenly collapses into a comatose heap. Which is bad enough already, but the worst, by far, is yet to come.

Before anyone can really figure out what's happened to the sleepers, the woods surrounding the town come alive with sound. Rustling, screeching, clicking, howling, and under it all, the characteristic hoots and whistles of the forest spirit tongue. But these aren't the friendly creatures that set up the banquet in the first place, and they aren't the familiar faces (or masks) from around Beacon. As they begin to emerge, bursting forth from the trees, these spirits reveal themselves as a horrifying army of terrors. And sprinkled among them, distinguishable by the emerald glint in their sockets, are the infamous "green eyes", the dangerous spirits that appeared once before.

Attempting to talk to these spirits is a moot point, made obvious by their immediate assault on anyone they get close to. They attack with claws and teeth, with limbs far stronger than they have any right to be, and the green eyes, as they are wont to do, will try to get into your head. Somehow, they seem to know what it is that scares you most, and they don't seem too hesitant to use it. It's not clear what they want— are they here to eradicate you? To frighten you? To send a message?

Whatever the case, one thing is very clear: you and everyone else, sleeping or waking, are in serious danger. Are you ready to defend Beacon?

paraskeptic: fool me twice, why wtf that's so mean. fool me three times, omg. fool me FOUR times... (fool me once; shame on you.)

[ he seems startled enough by the suggestion that dana immediately sets the bag down to show her hands, nodding at him. his leg doesn't appear to be causing him trouble and from what she can tell, it doesn't look infected. she's not going to fight him to accept help unless he really needs it. ]

Okay. If it starts hurting beyond how much it already does, let me know.

[ her hands lower after a moment, and she nods to the new supplies. ]

Thank you for those. They'll be really useful.

[Right move. The Soldier makes themselves relax a little. As much as they can, anyway.]

I don't get infections. Or I never have, that I remember. It'll be fine.

[They nod at the thanks, just... relieved that she's not pushing the medical thing.]

Let me know whenever you need more. I make regular patrols. Around the village. I can find more.
paraskeptic: most humans have enjoyed that privilege since the stone age. (do we have the capacity to make fire?)

[ it's not the strangest thing she's heard since she's gotten her, but the doctor in her still wants to protest, argue that just because he hasn't gotten an infection doesn't mean he won't. but she decides against it, nodding to him instead. ]

Well, if that changes, you know where to find me. And thanks, again. I'm sure we will at some point.

[It's the joy of working with supersoldiers and all that. Things generally heal up before there's time for infection to set in. It makes avoiding doctors like the plague slightly less dangerous. The Soldier nods again, then hesitates one more time and adds,]

I could bring down some mattresses from upstairs. For better beds.

[ dana's had a few run-ins with supersoldiers before, believe it or not. they don't typically end well (the first had ended with two eight year olds trying to poison her and her partner), but she doesn't harbor any ill-will towards them. he clearly seems to towards doctors, enough that she won't push why.

he mentions bringing down mattresses, and her lips press together slightly as she considers. it's a good idea, but she doesn't know how many there are to spare. ]

Maybe blankets and pillows? I don't want to move them too much.

[There are probably more mattresses to spare than there are tables. Mattresses are only useful for people. Tables are useful for defense, and a lot of them have been pulled apart to board windows, or laid out as barricades in stairwells and against doors.

Plus, the Soldier isn't the only one who hasn't been sleeping at all since this started.

But they don't argue. Arguing with doctors is, in their experience, a very bad idea. Usually results in either paralytics, or throwing said doctor across the room. Throwing this one across the room is counter-productive.]

I'll get some.

[And then they ghost upstairs, over said barricades, to do that. They'll be back in a few minutes with a whole bundle of blankets wrapped around another bundle of pillows, from beds on the third floor where nobody is supposed to really go at this point, without being well-armed and preferably self-healing. It isn't safe to go that far from the group.]
