dock rebuild | ota / mingle
characters: Aziraphale, Crowley, Daylight, Eleven, Stone, Eliot and YOU
location: The docks
date/time: Early Nov through Nov 11th
content: A mingle log for rebuilding the docks and/or generally if you'd like to have your character help with a mini-project. Feel free to throw up your own TLs! I am also still on slowatus until the 6th but wanted to put this up with ample time before Sandman!
warnings: N/A. If you would like to handwave your involvement, please just lmk and I'll add you to a list or something so everyone can just assume your character was around
The wood, cut and planked, sits in a pile on the beach, covered in whatever tarp-like object can be found to keep it from getting wet. On the bright side, the ferry comes in when they finish gathering supplies for the dock - so they don't have to gather more, and they don't have to rebuild a ferry. Still, large trunks are prepared for weather and hammered into the water, and don't get much of a chance to stand alone before a small group of people descend on them to cobble together a little dock. Not as grand nor as finely-made as the previous one, it will be nonetheless sturdy and usable, with hopefully no further changes for the last two years it may need to exist.

Re: one
[ He gets up from where he's sitting and dusts himself off. ]
If you wouldn't mind handing me some of that wood, dear.
I'm Aziraphale, by the way. I don't think we've met.
no subject
Uh, n-no. It's Rook.
[Sticking mainly to his surname for now.]
no subject
[ Aziraphale seems to lift the wood from him with great ease, and places it down on little markers he's made for himself. ]
Rook. Good, strong name, very useful chess piece.
[ Once the planks are laid, he offers his hand to shake. ]
Nice to meet you. Sorry about the circumstance.
no subject
Well, uh, I was, b-by all rights, um, extremely dead, so, well, this is arguably... not the worst outcome?
no subject
[ He assumes that Rook doesn't prescribe to an afterlife, then. ]
Though it's a very strange afterlife here. Not terrible, so far.
no subject
Either way, he's not certain enough of any opinion to contribute. Just to help with the work.]
T-takes some getting used to, y-yeah.
no subject
Why don't we sit you down and get you some tea? I feel like you could use a little break to get settled.
I'm so very sorry this place is a mess at the moment.
no subject
There's tea?
no subject
[ He pulls out a large tartan thermos. ]
no subject
Um. Y-yes, thank you.
no subject
Here you are. We're a little short on milk and sugar, but I've got biscuits!
no subject
[No, it isn't tea from home, but it smells close enough to right.]
no subject
[ He offers up both. ]
It'll keep you hardy for work.
no subject
I meant, um, milk and sugar, I don't... don't mind.
[This is what you get for not finishing sentences, Rook.]
no subject
[ He's so nervous but honestly it's a nervewracking place, Aziraphale can only be kind and hope he becomes more comfortable. ]
no subject
Th-thanks, been a bit.
no subject
Are you adjusting well to life here?
no subject
Sure.
[He finally takes a sip. It's not anything like home, but it is definitely tea.]
It's nice to, um, have... s-something concrete to do.
no subject
There is very much to do around here before we can worry about the fighting.
no subject
[He's not really much good at fighting, leaving aside how much more he wants to do, ever.]
N-not that I know, uh, a lot about... It's probably pretty easy to figure out.
[Though, while not an expert, he has to ask.]
What does a greenhouse accomplish without sunlight?
no subject
[ He snaps his fingers and brings down a little bit of a glow. It's not very bright, but it's definitely obvious. ]
Like this.
no subject
And that works on, um, a scale that'll grow plants?
no subject
We'll have to see about that.
Should at least be enough for an herb garden!
no subject
I suppose the plants that are already here must be doing... something.
