[One of the very best things about Beacon was the fact that they no longer had to seek out somewhere to camp every. single. night. Actually having their own place, somewhere to go back to at the end of the day, was a luxury that none of them had had for a while. It was nice. Nice enough that he really didn't understand what he was doing out here in the middle of the forest, leading his merry band of dorks to the camping spot they had used on the way to the armory.

But they had the makings for smores, two bottles of stolen liquor and a borrowed torch. The fact that it was technically to give the two adults among them a break really didn't faze him.

Now if only Gladio were here to help them make a tent.]

Yes... but... [ When prompted, she does tilt her head back to stare up at him again. ] It is embarrassing because that sort of intimacy is meant for people who are in love and who know one another. What we did was... extremely impulsive.

[ Luna will never not enjoy these affections from Noctis, honestly. She's blessed to receive them, and they are not anything she will ever take for granted. ] Of course. [Once, weeks ago, after he had made his confession, he wondered if they would ever be allowed to have this again. This gentleness between them. A bond that ran bone and heart deep sparking between them as easily as it had when they were children.]

[ Honestly? She'd been a little concerned about that, too. Her feelings had been raw, her gut twisted, and she'd felt a little more than lost. Time heals all wounds, though, and she's used these last few weeks to rethink some things. To try and push lingering feelings and thoughts of 'what if' away. Because those things are not going to come to pass, and there's no point in dwelling on the things she can never have.

She's always going to love Noctis. He's always going to have a place in her heart, and nothing will ever change that. But she's not willing to let their lengthy friendship die over something like heartache. Besides, new paths aren't exactly a bad thing. ]

It was worth it, because it meant getting to fall asleep next to you. Even back then, you were the only friend I had in the world. I cherished every single moment we had together, even when we were sleeping.

[Deep within his heart, there would always be a piece of him that was entirely hers. That had been given to her when they were mere children and there was no longer any taking it back. It came along with a love that was strong and true, held steadfast even when thousands of miles and stretches of sea and time separated them.

But within the span of his life, there was another bond that was just as strong, that ran just as deep. Slowly but surely it had occupied more and more of his heart, until the majority of it belonged to another without him ever realizing it.

Someone was also going to end up suffering in this particular scenario, and that heart ached at the knowledge that it was Luna. Yet they evolved, changed and came back together. Always by each other's sides. And as he went set about setting up the pillows and blankets they had brought for them - forming one giant nest like bed instead of two separate ones - he knew exactly how lucky he was.]

You know it's not like that anymore, right? You're not alone, Luna. I'm here. Ignis and Prompto too.

[ This is how things are meant to be: lovers or friends, they are meant to be at each other's side. Like night and day, they should have never been separated from the start. Without Noctis, she wouldn't be the same person. He's lifted her up for years, and continues to do so even now.

The pull of their friendship, of their bond is far too strong to let anything get between them. Her place is at his side, one way or another. ]
