[One of the very best things about Beacon was the fact that they no longer had to seek out somewhere to camp every. single. night. Actually having their own place, somewhere to go back to at the end of the day, was a luxury that none of them had had for a while. It was nice. Nice enough that he really didn't understand what he was doing out here in the middle of the forest, leading his merry band of dorks to the camping spot they had used on the way to the armory.

But they had the makings for smores, two bottles of stolen liquor and a borrowed torch. The fact that it was technically to give the two adults among them a break really didn't faze him.

Now if only Gladio were here to help them make a tent.]

[To say that they should both be asleep was an understatement. They were already into the second bottle and had demolished most of their smores supplies. Not to mention that Prompto was already peacefully passed out near by.

But no. Instead Noctis was still sitting there, fiddling around on his tablet - because whoever had originally taken it from him did not do a great job of hiding it.

Fortunately instead of sending completely ridiculous text to Ignis at whatever ungodly hour it currently is, he's struggling to figure out how to spell.]

Hey Luna? How do you spell 'I miss your waffles'?

[ It's been a pleasant evening full of spooky stories and legends, copious amounts of alcohol, and delicious smores. Poor Prompto is already down for the count, not that she could ever judge him for it. As someone who rarely partakes in alcohol... she gets it. And she knows she'll be feeling it in the morning.

Luna's been curled up at Noct's side for a while now, head rested against his shoulder and eyes closed. She's nearly about to drift off, too, when she hears Noctis speak. Something about spelling. ]

....We should have brought waffles.

[ That's not an answer to his question, but now she wants waffles, too. ]

[Despite the light heat that was radiating off the flame of the torch, her warmth was a much welcome addition. Soft and comforting, at his side precisely where she belonged. Occasionally his hand would leave his tablet to go wrap around her, to brush through her hair before going back to what he was doing.

Which currently was really wishing they'd had the foresight to pack some more snacks. Or something for breakfast that they could break into.]

And bacon. [Glancing down at his tablet and the words currently formed on the screen, he sighs before setting it aside.] ....I miss Iggy.

[ This is how life should have been from the get go. No Empire or war or destinies. Just freedom and togetherness between friends. She is the happiest of campers to be able to have the freedom to spend time with Noctis and Prompto like this. This reminds her of fond childhood memories spent with a very young prince, as a matter of fact.

She hums. ]

I love bacon. [ They all do, really. ] I'm sorry... we should have invited him.

[What a beautiful life that would have been. All of them growing up in Lucis. Constantly at each other's sides. A young prince and his princess.

Should he really be discussing Ignis with Luna? Saying how he missed the person who had, in all reality, been the entire reason for the heartache between them?

But Luna was truly the only person who actually knew. Who he felt comfortable enough with to talk about this stuff.]

Don't be. He gets grumpy if he doesn't get a night off sometimes. [In his normal extra fashion, he slips away from her as he speaks, flopping over dramatically so his head lands in her lap.] Apparently taking care of your Noctis is a big job or something.

[ When she was a young girl, she used to think about what life would be like growing up alongside him. Getting to know all his friends. It did sound like a wonderful life that she wishes they could have all had. But they have the present, at least. As depressing as being dead can be at times.

Lunafreya is not a bitter person. She can't be -- because what makes Noctis happy makes her happy. His happiness has always come before her own, and that isn't something that is going to fade... ever. Heartache be damned, she will always be here for him. ]

Poor Ignis... he's such a dear. [ She nearly topples over when he pulls away, though. She blinks a few times, because suddenly his head is in her lap, and she is quick to start petting his hair soothingly, laughing lightly at his words. ] Clearly. But it is a job that we all love dearly.

[Trapped here within this strange sort of after life lie the only chance they would ever have to experience that kind of life. All - most - of them together. Spending what precious time they had been granted. Being a family.

No one would have blamed her for being bitter. Least of all Noctis.]

Yeah. Guess he did have to outsource eventually. [Even though Prompto and Luna were far more like partners in crime than anything else. The three of them together could likely create an unstoppable force of chaos.] Maybe Nyx can take Gladio's spot.

[ It's strange, and she wishes that the others weren't here. But they are, and she's not going to waste any time. Even here, she feels like their time may be limited, and she doesn't even know what comes after death, if anything at all.

She couldn't be. She'd felt sorry for herself, briefly. Now she just doesn't think about it much. There is no point on dwelling on something that can never be... besides. She's got something else on her mind these days. ]

He is a good man... he certainly puts up with a lot, doesn't he? [ She's very fond of Ignis, after all. The mention of Nyx has her shifting a little bit, though. ] I'm certain that he would be honored.

What are you trying to say? [He has the grace left to look offended for all of five seconds before giving up on it entirely. Because he knows exactly what she's saying.

Ignis was, undoubtedly, the only reason he even made it to twenty years of age in the first place and didn't die within the first week of being on his own.

Because then it transforms into this strange, dreamy look and -

This boy is drunk please forgive him for everything that's about to come spilling out of his mouth.]

Okay, but honestly, you've seen him right? Have you seen how handsome he is? It drives me crazy that he's just out here, everyday, looking like that [... What were they talking about? Oh right. Nyx.]

You and him seem pretty close.

I think you already know. [ She lifts a hand to very lightly tap his cheek, an amused smile spreading over her lips. But it's the look that he has next, the way he starts gushing that makes her smile widen. It's good to see him so happy, he deserves it. So does Ignis. ]

He is very handsome, yes. And sweet, too. He's a good person, you two compliment each other well. [ She thinks so, at least. Though she blanches a little bit when the subject changes to her and she quickly looks off to the side, suddenly interested in the bush over yonder. ]

We are friends, yes. We were in the Crown City together as well, so I suppose there's a bit of comrade companionship there, too.

Hey! [Okay, so that absolutely did not hurt at all. But he's still going to his self and lift his hand to his cheek and rub it softly.

That look only intensifies when she says that they actually compliment each other. Especially considering how often he feels as though he doesn't exactly deserve everything that Ignis offers.] He's so sweet, Luna. Before the hallucinations started we... [Okay this was actually stupid and embarrassing and the hand that he lifts to press against his eyes proves it.] We had this stupid fight because I'm an idiot who gets jealous and he still made me breakfast.

[Noctis wasn't aware of everything that had taken place that fateful night within the walls of his home. Only what Luna and Nyx had described. But he knew how much closer the road they had all traveled together had made the four of them. He could only imagine the same could be said for them.]

He seems like a really good guy. Maybe even boyfriend material.

Hay is for horses. And on occasion, chocobos. [ He gets another gentle tap to prove her point, looking pretty proud of herself for it.

She returns to petting his hair soon enough, listening to him continue on. ] He is very sweet, yes. He goes out of his way to make everyone happy. Mm? [ A brow arches, and her head tilts. ] A fight? Why were you jealous, dear Noctis?

[ Even here, Luna still feels the need to protect Noctis from what happened in the city. From how his father passed. Unless he presses her for questions, she's not going to be going into detail any time soon. There are some things that are better left unsaid. ]

...He's very sweet. I'm sure he will make a good significant other for someone someday, yes.

[Please excuse him as he just. Lifts both hands and tries his very best to hide his face entirely behind them. Because it's ridiculous and stupid and he is fully aware of both of those things.

But that part of him was dark and ugly and didn't care.] I sent him this silly text and it... kind of got out of hand.

[Reaching for his tablet, he scrolls through his messages with Ignis until he reaches the set he's referring to, before handing it over for her to read.]

Or, you know, he could make a good one for you.

[ Taking his tablet, she glances at it for a moment. Such a reaction from him means something... bad definitely transpired between them. She scrolls through the messages, smiling at the majority of them... well. Until the end. ]

Goodness... Noctis, you shouldn't be jealous. Ignis loves you. Besides, he is allowed to do things for himself and others, yes? And have friends, both male or female. You need to trust him.

[ Says the woman with exactly zero relationship experience. She lightly taps the tip of his nose before handing him his tablet back. ]

....We had relations the other day.

[ That's it. She said it. ]

I do. [Said almost too quickly. Because beyond anything else, beyond anyone else, he trust Ignis. With everything. With his entire life.]

I do. Just - [Sighing softly, he allowed his hands to fall away from his face, staring up at her for a moment as he struggled desperately to fight through the haze and his own inability to put emotions into words coherently in an attempt to explain.] What if he realizes he likes being without me? Neither of us have really ever been without the other and I'm just... I guess I'm afraid he'll realize he's better off.

[Wait did she just?

She did not.

He sits up so fast the entire world spins and he instantly has to lay back down.]

Look at you staking out your claim. Gonna need some details though.

Noctis. [ She frowns at that, placing both of her hands on his cheeks. ] That is ridiculous. Ignis isn't like that, and he loves you. If he thought things like that, he would have left a long time ago. He knows that he is not going to be better off without you, just like you feel the same, I'm sure. Place your faith in him, there is no reason to be jealous over something so silly.

[ She winces just the slightest bit, shifting uneasily again. ]

No! No, it wasn't like that... details... it was what it was. Relations...

I know. [Rationally, he did. But such things were hardly ever considered rational. And the part of his brain that kept bringing those hidden, ugly thoughts and emotions forward definitely didn't understand any of it.] I just love him so much Luna. If I lost him I - [Would honestly probably simply lie down and wait for death to take him. Again and again. As long as it took to stick.

Okay that's. Definitely not where he thought this was about to go.]

I know what relations are. [Duh.] But I get the feeling you're not that happy about it.

...You aren't about to lose him any time soon, I can assure you. Relax... are the two of you made up? I haven't seen any frowns around the house. [ She's... she's hoping they're made up. Also, that the bounce house doesn't get popped one of these days because the two of them are having an argument. That thing was hard to carry back.

She just. Keeps her gaze firmly off to the side. ]

We have not spoken much since. I don't know what to think or if we are even still friends. It just... happened.

[Perhaps it is simply a matter of another voice speaking the words that finally seems to calm those voices within his mind that always seem so loud. That if Luna believed it so deeply, then perhaps it was true.] Yeah. We made up a couple days later. [Obviously, considering the absolutely ridiculous things he's been sending this poor man for the past couple of hours.]

... Want me to fire him?

[ She pets his cheeks very gently, smiling again. ] I'm glad. Fights and jealousy are normal, I think... but I hope that you realize that he loves you just as much as you love him. You two need one another. [ That last bit, though, has her shaking her head. Which is a mistake, because the world suddenly isn't staying still. ]

No! No, of course not. It was a mutual... thing. I just... I don't know what we are. I hope you aren't too disappointed...

Oh, I definitely know how much he loves me. [Do you see this look he's giving you right now, Luna? It's the look of someone who definitely comes down stairs in the morning limping far worse than they should be trying to cover up the bruises on his neck because his boyfriend doesn't know how to not use his teeth.]

Why would I be? You deserve to be happy too, Luna.

I'm glad. [ Things she does not need to visualize: everything he's just described. Honestly.... ]

...I don't know what I am supposed to feel. I don't even know how to talk to him now.

[Listen. He's probably not going to go into details.]

Do you regret it?

[ ....isn't he? ]

No. Not at all... I just wish that things weren't so awkward. It all happened so fast, Noctis... we were having an argument, and then he kissed me. And things... just went from there.

[Does she want details?

Shifting, he pushes himself up slowly, twisting around until he's next to her, hands patting his lap to indicate that she should take his place.]

Sometimes things just happen, Luna. It doesn't mean they're wrong.
