TRICK OR TREATING (open)
[ On October 31st, Aziraphale shows up to Eleven's room having put on a pair of black cat ears and having drawn black whiskers on his cheeks. He'd knocked on most people's doors to do a reverse trick-or-treating first, asking people to either have candy ready or passing them little treats just to have something to give out later. After all, it's about the experience.

With a bucket he'd painted to have a witchy face, he leads Eleven around. ]

Are you having a good time?

[ He asks, as he gestures for her to go knock on the next door. ]

ANNIVERSARY DATE (closed to Crowley)
[ On October 28th, 4004 BC, a snake crawled up to Aziraphale on the wall where he was standing, and the two of them became the best of friends. On October 28th, 2019-- or, what passed for 2019-- Aziraphale was sitting inside the Invincible, at a table off in the corner with Crowley, and celebrating a six thousand and twenty third anniversary.

He pours the two of them wine that Crowley's made, and then he makes sure it tastes a lot better than a bland Chardonnay. ]

Anniversary Date

"You know, one of the things I do like about London is its infinite variety of places to eat," Crowey says, though not really with his usual complaining-attitude. He doesn't have a lot to complain about today, after all. Bit silly, really, to celebrate the anniversary of the day that they first met, but it's also rather wonderful. Six thousand years of friendship and, well, whatever it was exactly right now.

He had a little brown paper bag that he kept under his chair. Definitely not a present.

"Suppose this'll work well enough," he adds, taking a sip of his wine. Oh, that's much better than a bland Chardonnay.

"Well, we're not in London anymore, and unfortunately this is our only choice. Well, that's not true, we could've cooked. But that would be a disaster, I think."

Not even a miracle could save Aziraphale's cooking.

"What is that, by the way?" he asks, gesturing towards the bag. "I never asked."

[sauntered_downward]

"For later," Crowley says, breezily. He gives him a quick smile and looks back down to his wine. He supposes they should see what kind of food they have here, and how the spirits prepare it for them. Crowley has been to the Invincible many, many times since their arrival, but never to eat. This will be something of an experience for him.

"So this is our first anniversary post-mortem," he says. "Which is something to be said for us, I think."

[lunchbreaks]

"It's the first one we've formally celebrated," Aziraphale responds. "Which also probably says a lot about us."

He looks over a menu and decides that there's not actually anything he wants to eat, but he politely picks something.

"Are you eating?" he asks Crowley. Usually he'd order something and pass it to Aziraphale, but since he'd started needing sustenance, it was more likely he'd require his own food. Teaching Crowley about the wonders of food has been a bit of an endeavor, truth be told.

Crowley looks over the menu with a scrutinizing eye. He's slowly gotten used to eating regularly, but the whole appeal of food still isn't quite there for him. He gives Aziraphale a look over his sunglasses.

"Why don't you pick?" he says. "You always know what to order."

Takes the weight off of Crowley, and makes it easier to complain if it's rubbish.

Aziraphale, meanwhile, starts off with a cold sweat since none of these things appeal to him. But he selects a few dishes he thinks they can't possibly mess up, and waits until the waiter spirit has returned to place their order.

If all else fails, they have the wine. And it couldn't possibly be worse than Aziraphale's cooking!

To be perfectly honest, Crowley has eaten in a lot of five star restaurants in his time, but he's never had much of a taste for food. And Aziraphale's cooking when he's actually hungry is far better than fine dining when he has no appetite at all. And, if nothing else, the attempt is more than a little endearing.

"I wonder if we can trust them enough to cook for us," he says, eyeing the waiter over his shoulder. "I've heard too many stories about the spirits."

"Well, it's not like you can go back there and cook for them, dear," he answers. "Unless you'd like to?" But he doubts it. It would be improper. And Crowley's always been lazy.

"What sort of stories have you heard?"

[sauntered_downward]

"You know I don't cook," Crowley says, looking off over Aziraphale's shoulder.

He glances back over his shoulder. "I heard that they had attacked the town a few months back. A lot of people died, or nearly died in the attack."

He tries to remember exactly what Xayah had told him. She survived it, and it didn't seem pleasant at all.

[lunchbreaks]

"Oh," he says. "Yes, I tried asking the Church spirit what we'd done to anger them and how to avoid it in the future. He said he didn't want to be involved."

He frowns at them.

"But they've calmed since then."

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley shrugs. "For now. Until someone pisses them off. Or---" he raises his glass. "---instructs them otherwise."

Not that Crowley really should be bringing up the Lighthouse Keeper at their dinner. But he can't help it. That Lighthouse is a constant in this place, and he's constantly thinking about what that person has planned for them.

[lunchbreaks]

"Not today, dear," Aziraphale says in a warning tone. They're going to celebrate today.

He reaches over for Crowley's hand and squeezes it. "Try me tomorrow."

But Crowley wants to talk about it today. Every day they're here is another step towards what could be the end of their lives. Every moment they sit in this dark, strange town is another tick in the direction of destruction. And if Aziraphale is serious about helping the people here rather than doing what Crowley wants and just getting the fuck out---

Aziraphale takes his hand and Crowley lets out a sigh. It can wait.

"I introduced the human soldier person to Queen," he says.

[lunchbreaks]

"Oh?" he asks. "Which Queen? I think Victoria was my favorite, but Elizabeth could give her a run for her money," he answers, even though nobody asked.

Sorry Crowley, he still doesn't know they're called Queen.

He'd at least be able to identify Bohemian Rhapsody as... a rhapsody.

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley tilts his head to the side. "No, angel, the band. The one in my car. The one I listen to. Freddie Mercury? You think they're bebop."

Though no one in the history of ever would classify Queen as bebop.

[lunchbreaks]

"What? Wasn't Freddie Mercury the man you pretended to be when you got here? FreddieFan67, that's your username. Was a bit odd, a man being a fan of himself, if I'm quite honest."

No, Crowley.

There is no recollection here.

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley's eyebrows knit together, and he looks like a man made out of infinite patience. "No, I picked my username because I am a fan of him, not because I'm pretending to be him. Best singer ever, best year ever. Put them together, you get my username."

He takes a drink of wine. "How did you end up with 'hello', anyway? Of all the usernames to pick, you could've just gone with 'angel' or 'stuffy' or something."

[lunchbreaks]

"Excuse me," Aziraphale responds to the suggestion of "stuffy." "For your information, it was asking me for a name and I said hello, my name is Aziraphale, and it cut me off at hello! Very rude."

"And now I can't change it."

[sauntered_downward]

Despite himself, Crowley found himself smiling. Of course that's how it all went about. If only the angel weren't so damn adorable, then it might be a bit easier to poke fun at him.

"Well, you could probably get that Dr person to change it," he says. "He changed mine when I pissed him off. Only did it a few days, but it made quite the impact."

[lunchbreaks]

"Yes, I remember. An odd advertisement, if you ask me. Says more about the doctor than it does you, at any rate," he says, grumbling.

"I'd never think you were such a horrible thing, you know."

So maybe he doesn't really know what fuckboy means.

[sauntered_downward]

"I don't know, angel, I was egging him on a bit," he admits. "But in my defense, he's just such a wanker."

There are few people in the town that Crowley truly and honestly dislikes, but Will is one of them.

[lunchbreaks]

"Crowley!" Aziraphale protests. But then, much lower underneath his breath, he says, "he really is, though. Don't understand what's got him so cranky all the time."

Possibly a lack of dates with a best friend.

Now Aziraphale feels bad for him.

Crowley couldn't give two shits about Will. He doesn't trust him, he doesn't feel bad for him, he mostly just wants him to go away.

"I think he's spent too long in this place, it's made him think he's too important," Crowley says. "Definitely wouldn't mind running into him in the town, though, but I only see him on the network."

[lunchbreaks]

"Maybe he's agoraphobic, Crowley, you don't know." He stops to order their food and then pours them some more wine. They're definitely going to be drinking much more than they're eating.

"Besides, you're right. He has been in this town a long time."

[sauntered_downward]

"He's definitely something," Crowley says. "But I don't think just having him bark orders at us over our tablets is going to get us anywhere."

He takes a drink of his wine. He doesn't want to get too drunk too early in the evening. Despite how relaxed he's acting, he's actually planned up something for later and he'd like to be sober for it.
