Although the month is already well underway, residents of Beacon will notice a brand new shipment being delivered to the general store—only this one comes via the forest, as a small legion of spirits quickly drop off crates of boxes at its doorstep before scampering back into the woods. Hopefully nobody is riding too hard on hoping for further rations or supplies, because opening them up quickly squashes any notions of a full month's restock. Instead, it looks like each crate is bursting with costumes! Coming in all shapes and sizes to fit anyone of any age or decree, there’s plenty to choose from. Something scary? Magical? Clever? Or maybe even a bit on the sultry side? Dig deep enough, and you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes, props, accessories, wigs and all!

If nothing else, surely you can find an alternate use for a bit of spare fabric in your size, but what's the harm of having a bit of fun? But, oh, be careful if you're playing dress-up while the hallucinations from the event are in play... These costumes might just have a funny effect on you. 🤔!

"Well, yes, that is what I want. You just want to talk to her? You do catch more flies with honey than vinegar, dear," he says. Even though regardless of what Crowley says to Aziraphale, he can translate it from what he says to what he means.

[sauntered_downward]

"Yes," Crowley says. Well, lies. It's not really a lie. It's only sort of a lie. Mostly a lie. "A surprise sort of talk to discuss the way she treats the town."

He traces his hand down Aziraphale's arm. He'd rather be back to the nuzzling and cuddling. He rather liked that part.

[lunchbreaks]

"Oh, well, that's alright." He just believes in Crowley's good, believes in his lie.

He tilts his face up and kisses Crowley's neck. "And are you feeling any better?"

[sauntered_downward]

"Yes, but still not the sort of thing we want to share with the rest of the town," Crowley warns him. "Want to keep it a surprise so that she doesn't get scared off or toss monsters our way or something." Because even if Crowley weren't mostly sort of not exactly lying, then he'd still not trust the Lighthouse Keeper to want a little chat.

Crowley lets out a sigh at the kiss to his neck. He raises a hand up to curl in Aziraphale's hair. "If I say yes, you get to keep doing this, right?"

[lunchbreaks]

"Crowley--" he says, freezing. "You want to keep this from everyone again? Can't we just let her know we want a little talk? Or-- I'll give you a gift to bring her. I can ask who'd like to contribute to the peace offering!"

[sauntered_downward]

Oh, damn. The kissing thing was far too good to keep going, wasn't it?

"Angel, we don't know what her reaction could be," he says. "If she sees something on the network about us coming, she might set up a trap for us. We don't know what she's planning."

[lunchbreaks]

"Well, can't we make a post that she can't... see?" he asks. No, no more kissing Crowley, sorry, this is important.

In fact, he backs up so he can look Crowley in the eyes.

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley's expression reads: Oh come on now, baby, don't be like that.

But he's not going to just drop this.

"Well, I don't know how to do it and I don't trust anyone in this town not to go running right to her inbox even if we did," he says. "This isn't just a social call, angel, it's a confrontation about all the shit that's going on down here. Do I need to remind you that you've almost died twice now because of the things happening in this town?"

[lunchbreaks]

"Not on her account, Crowley! And need I remind you that we almost killed an entire boat full of people? And my arm is still broken, and so is your leg?"

He lays a hand on where Crowley's leg is broken, and he presses, just a little bit, just enough to be slightly annoying.

[sauntered_downward]

"Ow," Crowley says, pointedly. "You don't need to remind me, I was there. She's telling everyone that there's nothing out in the water, and that's how I know she knows the right way out. If we go up there and----"

He gestures vaguely.

"---persuade her, she's bound to tell us the way out."

[lunchbreaks]

"I don't think she will, Crowley," Aziraphale responds, frowning. "But you're welcome to go try. Just... don't even pay me any mind, then."

He disentangles himself from Crowley and gets out of the bed; he's getting stressed out and he sort of wishes he hadn't kicked cigarettes.

Well, not that there would be any cigarettes to smoke. No, he needs a drink.

[sauntered_downward]

"I didn't think you'd want to come," Crowley says. He tries to cover up his sudden look of distress at Aziraphale's departure with a relaxed lounge in the bed. It doesn't work and he ends up looking like he's trying too hard.

"Unless---I mean, if you want to go? You could always come with," he adds.

He reaches out for the drink Aziraphale brought up for him on the tray. He needs this.

[lunchbreaks]

"Absolutely not," Aziraphale calls from the other room as he pours himself a finger of whiskey and then tops it off with another finger.

He'd forgotten water when he comes back in the room, so he sticks a finger in his cold tea and splashes it into the whiskey.

"Why are you like this?" he asks.

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley looks up at him over the rim of his glass. Complete innocence reigns on his face.

"Like what?"

[lunchbreaks]

"You're always... just... unwilling to listen to anyone about what might be good for you. And now it's not just about you, Crowley, it's about everyone."

He frowns and sighs, exasperated.

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley gestures with his glass towards the window.

"There is no one in that town worth listening to," he says. "Not one of them, angel. They're all stuck here. I've met a grand total of three people who actually want to leave this place and all of them would be behind me telling the Lighthouse Keeper to get her act together if I told them."

[lunchbreaks]

"A lot of people want to leave this town, Crowley, and you've only listened to the three of them that agree with you."

He drowns his whiskey. He can't do this.

"I'm taking a walk."

[sauntered_downward]

"Oh, right, do the one thing I can't do right now," Crowley says. Just Crowley's luck, Aziraphale appears, takes off his trousers, and then leaves off in a snit. Can they never just get it right?

He downs his drink and tosses the glass back to the tray.

"You make it like I'm not trying!"

[lunchbreaks]

"You are trying, but maybe you're trying to do something and not trying at other things you should be doing instead!" he says back.

"And maybe I just need to be alone right now."

[sauntered_downward]

"Fine, go! I don't need you!"

This is also a lie.

[lunchbreaks]

"It's only to cool off, Crowley, it's not forever. I still--"

He pauses in the doorway. "I promised I'd never leave you, and I mean it. I just need a moment."

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley pointedly rolls over in the bed, ignoring Aziraphale's words.

How can Aziraphale think that these people with their petty little lives are more important than getting out and getting away? Oh, because he's a stupid angel, of course he's going to think of something like that. Well, not Crowley. Eye on the prize. Prize being back in London to stop the next apocalypse. Even if a few people in town seem to think that time doesn't move outside of this place, Crowley will believe it when he sees it.

[lunchbreaks]

Aziraphale leaves, and comes back about half an hour later, coming into the room, taking a seat on the bed as if he hadn't left.

"Crowley," he starts. "I don't want to argue with you. Haven't we spent enough time doing that?"

[sauntered_downward]

Crowley has most definitely not been pouting.

Okay, yes, maybe he's been pouting. And also playing his downloaded levels of Candy Crush on his phone. Damn that there isn't any wifi in this place.

"I'm not you angel," he says, not turning over. "I'm not about to make a million friends and care about the secret crushes or whatever that they do."

[lunchbreaks]

"What? I don't have a secret crush on anybody, you know that." He has no idea where this is even coming from.

"And if you think I have so many friends, wouldn't it be to your benefit to ask me to get their opinions on some of these things you think that everyone believes or doesn't believe?"
