October 9 feels like a normal day at first, save for the red lighthouse beam cutting through the darkness overhead. You know by now—or you've heard—that the lighthouse is only active during ferry arrivals and events... And there's definitely no ferry docked at the, er. Beach. The town is quiet, the forest spirits behave business-as-usual, Rastus doesn't know what's up. Whatever's going on, you'll have to figure it out for yourself.

And you will, though the hallucinations are subtle at first: objects moving when they shouldn't, people's proportions looking just a bit off, voices in an empty room, and so on. Is it just your mind playing tricks in the darkness? Might be! Will did warn you all about the effects of living without a sun and a proper day/night cycle.

As the days go on, the hallucinations are harder to ignore, no matter how much you may wish to wave them off as flukes. What's wrong with everyone's faces? When did all the howling start? Who do you hold onto when the world drops out from under you? And those hands...

While you might know it can't be real, it certainly feels real. But at least it can't last forever!

...Right?

Yeah, it----takes away some of the pain.

[He lets out a big, frustrated sigh]

It's just never going to heal at this rate. I can't go a day without landing on it.

Have you tried just... resting, dear?

[ He looks at him, a little desperately. ]

I know you don't like staying in bed, but perhaps just around the house for a few days. Maybe a week. You're only making it worse, I think.

What, and leave you to your own devices?

[he holds up the angel's lantern as proof of the things the angel does when Crowley is not around]

[lunchbreaks]

You're right, I've been ungrateful.

Thank you, for saving me.

[ He shifts over, and presses a kiss to Crowley's cheek. ]

But stay in bed, and don't move around so much.

[sauntered_downward]

[For once, Crowley doesn't argue with being thanked, and just leans back on the bed.]

Don't put yourself in danger like that again.

Who the hell else am I going to take out to lunch when we get back to Earth, eh?

[lunchbreaks]

Oh, you're one to talk. Who's supposed to take me out to lunch if you die? Or for that matter, never heal this leg?

[ He tugs at the jeans. ]

I'm taking a look.

[sauntered_downward]

[Yesterday, Aziraphale removing Crowley's jeans in any context would have meant nothing---or, well, close to nothing---but in this exact moment, following that sudden, intense bout of intimacy on the beach, well, there's a whole other meaning to being undressed.

He still unbuttons his jeans and lifts his hips up to shimmy out of them.]

One of these days I'm going to make sure you buy me a drink before you get me out of my trousers.

[lunchbreaks]

Don't be crass dear, I'm checking your wound.

[ He sighs at the state of it, as he helps Crowley out of his jeans. ]

Lord, I can't believe this is all on my account.

[sauntered_downward]

I'm fairly sure the whole thing is my fault. I planned the ferry hijack. I knew the risks, angel.

[lunchbreaks]

Yes, and that is precisely why you are not allowed to plan any more hijacks, dear.

[ He pretties up Crowley's bandages and miracles them clean. Absolutely no hanky panky. ]

I don't know why you can't just fly everywhere. It'd heal this a lot faster.

[sauntered_downward]

I don't want everyone knowing I'm a demon.

[he raises a hand]

I know, I know. Weird sorts all over the place here. But I like to just be one of them. It makes things easier.

[lunchbreaks]

It's a little late for that, don't you think? I'm sure people saw you flying away from me the other day.

[ He moves up on the bed to situate himself next to Crowley, pulling up the blanket again. ]

[sauntered_downward]

They saw something. They might not know it was me. I start flying everywhere, landing here and there, they'll start to work it out.

[He turns his body to face Aziraphale]

We could fly, next. Try to see what's out in the woods. If you want, we could take two people with us, try to make it more of a community thing.

[lunchbreaks]

I think it'd be safer that way. More people flying means more people to catch anyone who might fall. Who knows what's out there.

[ He reaches for Crowley's hand. He doesn't know where they are or what they're going to do now, but this seems to be acceptable. ]

[sauntered_downward]

[Crowley curls his fingers around Aziraphale's. One step forward, he's not about to take any steps back tonight.]

That's what we need to find out. There has to be a way out of here.

I still think our best bet is that waterway. But it's too dark, I can't fly it.

[lunchbreaks]

Would it help if I lit the way? It won't be much, but I could try.

[ He reaches over for Crowley's head to pull it down onto his shoulder. Crowley's always liked being close, and Aziraphale thinks it's a good time to indulge him. ]

[sauntered_downward]

[Crowley leans in immediately, wrapping an arm around Aziraphale's chest as he moves in.

He can't completely hate this place, he thinks. This is the place that they found this, this intimacy, this relationship. They never had it before.]

We could try it for the woods, but I think we should stick to a boat for the water. Especially if we're taking people with us.

[lunchbreaks]

[ Yes. This is sweet, and he wouldn't trade this for anything, he thinks.

He turns his head and presses a kiss to Crowley's hair. ]

Perhaps we shouldn't go near water for some time.

And please, would you announce the plan to everyone?

[sauntered_downward]

[Crowley leans his head back so he can look up at Aziraphale]

Don't you think it would be better to just go? Build our own boat and just disappear? They'd never be able to stop us, never even realize we'd gone.

[lunchbreaks]

Crowley, we can't just leave them.

[ He smooths the skin over Crowley's jaw. ]

We're on our side, but so are they.

[sauntered_downward]

We can't save them all, angel.

A lot of them don't want to be saved.

[lunchbreaks]

What about the ones who do?

What about the children, Crowley? Eleven? We can't leave Eleven.

[sauntered_downward]

What's an Eleven?

[he sighs]

Some of the children don't want to leave. Mary's life was terrible on the outside, she likes it here.

[lunchbreaks]

Eleven is a girl. And she wants to go home to save her friends from some impending doom, not sure what.

Mary-- we can take her with us. She's delightful.

And what----we'll take care of her? Take care of a human girl?
