EVENT LOG: BURY A FRIEND

EVENT LOG:
BURY A FRIEND
characters: everyone.
location: around town.
date/time: october 9-17.
content: the hallucinations begin...
warnings: psychological horror. please cw tags appropriately.
it's probably something that shouldn't be said out loud
October 9 feels like a normal day at first, save for the red lighthouse beam cutting through the darkness overhead. You know by now—or you've heard—that the lighthouse is only active during ferry arrivals and events... And there's definitely no ferry docked at the, er. Beach. The town is quiet, the forest spirits behave business-as-usual, Rastus doesn't know what's up. Whatever's going on, you'll have to figure it out for yourself.
And you will, though the hallucinations are subtle at first: objects moving when they shouldn't, people's proportions looking just a bit off, voices in an empty room, and so on. Is it just your mind playing tricks in the darkness? Might be! Will did warn you all about the effects of living without a sun and a proper day/night cycle.
As the days go on, the hallucinations are harder to ignore, no matter how much you may wish to wave them off as flukes. What's wrong with everyone's faces? When did all the howling start? Who do you hold onto when the world drops out from under you? And those hands...
While you might know it can't be real, it certainly feels real. But at least it can't last forever!
...Right?

Mm, I imagine she's interested in them, yeah. I saw her saying something about working out a solution now that the ferry's gone - a solution for not bringing in more people, I imagine. She has ways to contact people beyond Beacon somehow.
[And she can order people killed, too. He knows that much. The troublemakers had better watch their heads.]
Anyway, I spoke to the man who calls himself Soldat and he took some of the blame, but it sounds like that Crowley fellow might be at fault as well. Do you know him?
no subject
[He wishes he had his quick heals he had back home, but any and all of his healing power had disappeared since he arrived here. He's glad that at least his fighting capabilities weren't weakened.]
That could be a possibility and a lot of others would be spared this prison. However, I'm worried about the repercussions of not being able to get here. Whatever it is that brings souls here might damage the ones that are stuck due to the ferry being out of commission.
[Ignis shakes his head,] Unfortunately no. Only the things I've seen on the network. I believe there were three people involved.
no subject
Right. The third is Aziraphale, who I've met briefly. If I'm understanding correctly, he was there trying, perhaps naively, to minimize damage.
[But at thousands of years old, how could someone truly be naive? It's part of an act, he suspects. The Aziraphale he met in person, kind and genuine and a little too trusting, can't be the full story. Or perhaps living for such a long time requires a certain amount of ignorance to avoid insanity.]
Meanwhile, Crowley conducts himself on the network rather... poorly.
no subject
Well, that's unexpected. I've met him briefly as well, and he didn't seem the type to stage something like this.
[What were they even trying to do with hijacked Ferry? Clearly it was under some kind of spell and even Ignis didn't dare mess with that.
Ignis sighs,] Well, Keeper at least can't reset us over this, even though she probably would like to. There's no ferry to bring in different people so she's stuck with us for a change.
[For better or for worse. Also ignore his gripes, he just really dislikes her.]
no subject
[He glances briefly to the side, watches hands retreat back into the shadows from where they were waiting, slowly reaching. They contort strangely, as if they itch to tear at his flesh, to grab at whatever they can seize and hold onto.
As he then steps forward toward Ignis once more as if to take a seat in one of the chairs nearby, the hands seem to surge forward with him, grabbing at his clothing. With a gasp of surprise, he's seemingly yanked onto the ground with a thud - though he realizes belatedly that of course there are no hands, and he's just fallen as usual.]

[...perhaps destroying the Ferry is a way to go. To secure that she doesn't erase them like words from the paper.
He's brought from his musings when Rosinante falls over- it's hard to be this tall in such small buildings, Ignis figures. He steps over to him.]
Are you alright? Do mind your step, the Library is pretty dark, save for our lanterns.
no subject
[No explanation offered, though - thanks, Ignis, for creating one. Sure, the darkness, that's what's to blame. He thwacks over his lantern with his arm as he tries to sit up, grimacing slightly as it comes to a hard stop against the leg of the table, then retrieves it and sets it on top of the table where he can't accidentally knock it over quite so easily.
In fact, maybe he'll just do as he usually does at the bar or many other places here and stay sitting on the floor. He fits a little better that way.]
Speaking of moving between worlds and that ferry, I had a strange conversation with a Doctor Lutece a few weeks back. Have you ever heard of "quantum physics"?
no subject
[Ignis rubs his chin in thought, raking through his brain to see whether he came across the word or no. He's learned about physics, yes. But the word 'quantum' sounds strange and foreign to him. Something that Niflheim could probably dabble in. He's never run into something like that back in the Crown City.]
Unfortunately, no. The word is unfamiliar to me. Do you know what is it about?
[Or is he maybe asking Ignis to explain it. Which is, sadly, impossible. Hmm, he should look into this later as well. It's not like he has anything better to do right now.]
no subject
[Which almost sounds like a question, the way he says it. More than one universe? How can that be? It's a little bit beyond him, as he's still stunned by the fact that there are humans on different planets in the sky.]
no subject
She might be on the right track, [he says with a nod.]
It didn't occur to me but looking at it now, it is very obvious that there are multiple universes. After all, I bet you have never heard of my world, Eos. And yet, it exists.
There are probably plenty of other worlds that coexist and that we are not aware of. Question is- what is bringing all the people that died here, to Beacon...
no subject
[And any one of those stars might be a world with people, right? Something like that. Or maybe the worlds are dark, because planets don't glow, but they have moons and suns and other things around them.
He's trying to understand, he really is, but the science of the night sky is something he has a poor grasp of, having never needed to learn anything beyond its use in navigation.]
