It starts with a network post, and then a song begins to play in the Invincible, loud enough to be heard throughout Bonfire Square. Welcome to the scavenger hunt, everyone! You've been tasked with finding 25 "items" in and around Beacon, so hop to it!

Please remember to ICly report your findings on Robin's network post if you want them to count toward a prize! As a further reminder, you're free to interpret the list items however you/your character would like, and you're free to assume your character can find all of these things somewhere in town without running into trouble! Just don't stray too far from town to go gallivanting off into the wilderness, as that might be dangerous. This includes finding forest spirits! You're welcome to NPC your own forest spirit encounters, just like in our last event.

( there's a scavenger hunt going on but ambrose is sitting at a table with a drink, perusing through the list of things that this place wants him to find. every so often, he says something out loud, questioning one of the items. )

A fabulous outfit?

( well, he would have had that one sewn up if he had access to his wardrobe back home. he might not have gotten the chance to leave the estate often but he still made sure to look damn good.

he hums, eyebrows going up at one particular list item. ) Something delicious? Well, I don't want to brag but...

( he shrugs, gesturing to himself before he laughs and goes back to his drink. maybe he'll get up and actually find a few of these things. or maybe he'll keep drinking and talking to anyone that passes by and captures his attention. )

Well, while I am drinking something delicious, that is not what I was talking about.

( come on, is he being too subtle about what he means? he's going to have to try harder. )

[Crowley actually doesn't get it for a few seconds. He looks blankly at the man through his sunglasses, then his eyebrows go up.]

( don't mind him, he's going to preen a bit and buff his nails on his shirt. )

All right, all right. If you insist...

[Molly overheard the "fabulous outfit" part and as he's been accosted a few times already for selfies, he's just accepted that he's too fabulous to be contained. He doesn't understand the point of this and Robin is way perkier than Will suggested she'd be, which weirds him the fuck out. He's just along for the ride.

He throws his arms out and pivots, so Ambrose can see the extent of his fabulously ostentatious maroon coat.]

Oh, well now...

( that is quite the look, ambrose will admit. it's a coat that he would absolutely wear and he's a little jealous that he's not wearing it right now. )

All right, that is a fabulous outfit and I am thoroughly jealous.

As you should be. [Molly preens like the very peacock tattoo that adorns his face and neck.] We should all be so lucky to have died fashionable. It's the little things, you know?

I have to admit that my death was probably me at my least fashionable. I'd been imprisoned unfairly before then and only had a very drab pair of pants and shirt.

( absolutely heartbreaking. )

It is a thing I will regret forever.

[Molly places a hand over his chest.] My deepest sympathies. May you find something worthy of your exquisite taste here.

[Anyway.] So is all of this about Robin's scavenger hunt thing?

It is.

( he's kind of...lazily participating. )

I'm sure I could try harder and find other things but I'm partial to just seeing what I can find while I sit here.

I'll do you one better. I've been letting people take pictures of me, and that's been my entire contribution. In my defense, we don't have "selfies" where I'm from. I love to flaunt as much as the next person, but that feels gratuitous even for me.

[He's also had it explained to him in five different ways.]

( Ambrose is just minding his own business, drinking and scoffing at the list. little does he know he's already been pegged for a list item, and it is not for his distinct deliciousness.... well... it kind of is. just phrased differently.

Matt actually recognizes the voice, he thinks, since their conversation on the network had been voice instead of a robot blandly reading the entire conversation. that said it'd be a hell of a guess, so he's not going to suggest they've already had a conversation, instead he focuses on what he's here for. )

Hello, sorry to bother you. ( as Ambrose is clearly in the middle of something of vital importance, he has to apologize for his own disruption. ) I don't know how to make this sound like I'm not hitting on you, but I'm told you are very beautiful and was hoping for a picture.

( so, a rare things happen after matt's declaration: ambrose doesn't actually have an immediate reply. he stares for a moment and then ends up laughing, just barely stopping himself from blushing. )

You're told that, are you?

( well, now he has to know who's talking about his looks. )

I would love to give you a picture if you tell me who told you I was beautiful.

i can almost feel grizz dying of embarrassment in the background

I am. I'm a poor judge of aesthetics.

( Matt has his sunglasses on and a walking cane tucked in his elbow so he doesn't think he has to telegraph his blindness any louder than it already is. truth be told, with his stupid superpowers Matt would objectively agree with the assessment, he's just not going to admit to it. and not just because that would require explaining he can sense his surroundings like a bat because Marvel Comics thought that was a good concept for a superhero.

as for coughing up the details on who did the suggesting, Matt does consider just admitting it. it might be embarrassing in the moment, but it wouldn't be that way forever. still, he doesn't want to throw the poor kid under the bus. Grizz can tell Ambrose he's beautiful in his own time, when he's ready. in the meantime, Matt isn't going to squeal on him. )

I can't say. I realize that does little for my case. ( there IS someone, though, okay!!! he's not coming on to anybody, he's just a very good friend. promise. )

So, you're just going to dangle this mystery in front of me and not provide any hints?

( ambrose laughs and shakes his head. it's a terrible tease and he wants to know who's been talking about him but he's not going to push. )

That is exactly what I would do. Hold out until I give you what's needed and then give me another clue, at least. Is it you?

( come on, he has to ask, matt. )

( Ambrose, he once made a career out of convincing people he knew such incriminating information they had no choice but to fold. he's great at using his information to his utmost advantage.

and he's not above giving a hint or two. a lighthearted crush is about the most teenage thing Grizz has to hold onto in Beacon, Matt doesn't see any reason why he shouldn't indulge in it. )

No, a friend directed me your way. You have a very nice voice, that I all I can say with certainty. ( it's the accent, Matt has a thing for accents... ) I trust his judgement. ( that's a tiny (and very intentional) hint! )

( hmm. he's running through various possibilities in his head now, going over who might think he's beautiful that might also know matt. )

Well, thank you for the compliment on my voice. I've worked hard to make it sound as good as it does. ( jokes! ) I'm not going to deny you your picture. Is there anything particular you want me to do for it?

( Matt's not exactly drowning in friends, that probably gave it away more than anything! W HOOPS... sorry Grizz, maybe talk to him less!

well, Ambrose, now that you mention it... )

I'm not exactly much of a photographer. Tell me, is it asking too much to get you to do the button pressing on top of being the subject? ( look, he'll try, but it'll be awkward, okay??? Ambrose will at least have to tell him when. and if they're even remotely in frame. )

[ although kol doesn't respond to ambrose when he hears him commenting on a fabulous outfit and something delicious (he's busy scavenging!), it's half an hour or so later that he finally returns to it. or returns to him—whichever way you want to look at it.

with his own drink in hand (god, he had needed one several hours ago), he comes up to ambrose's table. he recognises his voice easily—thick and deep, and a very nice english accent.

he stands comfortably by the table. ] You can't leave me hanging. Did anyone take a selfie with you for the delicious one?

Oh, well I did get one visitor who asked for my picture because of that.

( and he's not even lying, not even trying to toot his own horn. )

Do you think they made a good call asking me? Do I fit the bill?

[ narrowing his eyes, he appears as though he's taking this quite seriously. he does seem like the type who would take anything in stride... taking a prolonged moment to size ambrose up, he lets out a breath through gritted teeth, as if he's about to give him very bad news. ]

I think anyone who doesn't take your photo for that will be greatly disappointed by their lack of prize. They're evidently missing out.

Oh, someone's a sweet talker.

( and ambrose hopes his smile is an indication that he likes it. )

[ oh, he's got him in one. kol smiles proudly, uncaring to hide behind what would be false humility. ambrose doesn't seem the type who'd enjoy that as much as actual confidence. ]

Why not? [ it's with an easy shrug. he's pulling his device out of his pocket as he speaks. ] This might be the only find that's actually acceptable.
