He looks at her, his gaze dropping away when she asks that question. She scoots closer and, without thinking about it, Riku just opens up, he leaves space for her to tuck up beside him and under his arm.

"I want to be with my friends," Riku admits, "With Sora and Kairi."

Kairi who drowned, who died and was buried on a little slope overlooking the boathouse she used to live in together with her best friends.

"Sora's gone away. He's on a quest, you know? Hero stuff," he adds, smiling fondly, "I promised I'd wait here so he can find his way back. Like I said, Mary," he brings up his hand to push a golden lock out of her eyes.

"Sometimes people go away."
