Hello!!

[There is a small robot, about three and a half feet in height, meandering cheerfully in Bonfire Square. If you don't say hi back to her, she's likely to amble over and start scanning your lantern (which basically just looks like her standing there staring at it while her eyes glow) or will ask your name. She is very persistent.

If your character has died in Beacon before, she will absolutely just greet you by name as if you're already best friends. Because you are! Right?

Feel free to also make your own top-levels if you wish to discuss amongst yourselves. For the purposes of this log, replying under the CLARA header will tell me you're interested in interacting with her, but posting a separate toplevel will not involve the robot.]

Well, that's good. Elektra doesn't intend to be hostile, if for no other reason than she holds the knowledge on how to restore lanterns and is guarding the bonfire, but with her it tends to kind of just happen. Less often than it used to, but still.

She looks mildly surprised that she was noticed so quickly (though she really shouldn't be), but holds her lantern out for whatever purpose the robot wants her to, watching her carefully.

Clara doesn't touch the lantern; rather, she seems to simply admire it, though the cycling of dim, colored not-quite-light in the bulbs that might be eyes indicates something is going on in her processes.

"Elektra Natchios!" She finally declares, and waves a hand animatedly. "We have not met before! I am so excited to meet you now! I hope I said your name right!"

She did, for thankfully, Elektra's name fits the basic rules of phonetics as Clara knows them. But one can never be sure until you try!

All right, she can't really help but be charmed by that. She smiles, nodding in greeting before letting her arm settle back down, still keeping a careful grip on it.

"Yes, you did. Elektra's fine if you'd prefer not tripping over the surname." It's happened a lot. "And you're Clara."

"Okay Elektra! I like your name! I am Clara which is an acronym but it serves as a name especially because it's slightly recursive and if I think too hard about that I get stuck tripping over my own name! So I do not do that."

Good news, or she probably wouldn't be very helpful and then what would she do?

"Which world are you from?" she asks eagerly.

[ultraviolents]

"You can't tell that from my lantern?" Interesting, since their souls are meant to be tied to it. She would have guessed there would be records on each person Beacon had pulled in dating back to their first attempts, but maybe she's only capable of storing so much information.

"I'm from Earth. Along with a lot of others, but I think there are different variances among those of us from there."

[candlebot]

"Earth! Yes that is a common source for many of the people collected here," she says agreeably.

"I can read your lantern spectrum and match it to some of your basic information, including your network username! But I cannot determine your source world or other details from here. Dr. Solis could with her equipment but I do not have access to that here! But that is fine because I think it is fun to ask! It means we can become better friends if we ask each other questions, right?"

[ultraviolents]

"Ah." That does make a certain amount of sense, she figures. An eyebrow raises slightly at the second part, but if she allows her to ask her a few things, maybe she'll get to ask a few of her own.

"Sure. What do you want to know?"

[candlebot]

"What is your favorite place in Beacon? It is such an interesting place! I want to see all of it but it would take me a long time to walk around all of it so where should I go first to see the best parts?"

Apparently she's interested in a bit of tourism in her new home, but that's only fair, right?

[ultraviolents]

"I like the gym, but I think that might be boring for someone who doesn't care about exercise." To her it feels familiar, routine enough for her to feel some semblance of control in this place, even if life in Beacon makes it pretty clear she only has so much of it. "The woods are nice to walk in if you're careful, and my friend and I found the school while searching for something. I don't think I'd recommend going in alone, though."

[candlebot]

"The forest is very hard to walk in! I have trouble with uneven ground and sometimes I fall and it is very hard to get back up but if someone went with me maybe I could go! Could I go with you?"

She looks up at Elektra with a smile. It would be far stranger if she showed any other expression on the dial that represents her mouth, though.

[ultraviolents]

At this rate, Clara is going to end up adopted. She can share a room with the baby tree spirit.

"Where would you want to go?" She'd be hesitant to take her anywhere too dangerous, especially since she's now in charge of the lanterns and bonfire, but there are a lot of less dangerous buildings she can explore.

[candlebot]

"I am not sure! I am still trying to determine what my preferences are now that I have so many options!" she remarks cheerfully.

"If there is a fun place where lots of people like to spend time then maybe I would like to see that!"

[ultraviolents]

"I think your best bet might be the Invincible to start. It's close enough that I can take you there now, if you're not busy."

She figures that Clara's set herself up in the center of town for a reason, if only to introduce herself to everyone.

[candlebot]

"The Invincible! I have seen that one and I like it a lot! There are some colorful paintings inside! Is that where you like to go? I can go with you and see it again!"

Clearly, Clara is already a fan. She looks vaguely in the direction of the building, which is just barely visible from here thanks to the few torches inside its windows.

[ultraviolents]

She hadn't intended to stop by the Invincible when she'd started out into town today, but she can make a detour for her sake.

"Sure. We can see how badly off we are when it comes to supplies at this point. Do you have anywhere you're staying yet?"

Since she'd mentioned it being difficult for her to walk through the woods on her own, she's presuming she's not about to head back to the lab on her own.

"I do not! But people keep saying I should stay somewhere so maybe I will move from place to place so I can stay with everyone!"

Better than asking everyone to all move in together, or at least more practical.
