Has a Fight Club Joke Already Been Made? [Open]

characters: Will and anyone who does combat training!
location: the gym I guess
date/time: 3/27 probably
content: someone come teach this twink how to throw a punch, surely nothing will go wrong
warnings: violence but not like, the serious kind

On the first day of combat training after the big kidnap-and-rescue, there's someone unusual at the gymnasium. He's not participating, at least not at first, just sort of frowning at everyone from a distance. If it weren't for who it was, one could be excused for thinking that he disapproves of violence or had intended to use this gym for something else this evening.

But like, it's Will, so. Neither of those things are even remotely possible.

Maybe you're brave enough to ask him why he's here or call him over, or maybe you're around long enough to see that he creeps slowly closer to the training area. Does he actually... want to participate... ?

He certainly isn't going to be asked for inclusion, so unfortunately you'll have to talk to him.

Soldat notes Will's arrival almost immediately, in part because he's been mentally categorized as "potential ally" after the discussion about Scarlett, in part because he's still got "doctor" attached to his name and thus requires watching, and in part just because he's new. They're still moving kind of slowly, themselves, after the weekend's damages, careful not to overdo it, but they can probably do something about this, at least.

So they keep him in the corner of their eye, until they have a moment to set Sora on a target with his knife, and can approach with careful but amiable curiosity. "Evening. Are you here to learn something?"

"I taught six year olds how to take down grown men," Soldat assures him with a small smile. "I'm sure we can work something out." Of course, the six year olds were dedicated and determined, out of fear if nothing else, and Will is reluctant, but... they can manage, probably. If Will has absolutely no combat training, at least he won't have anything to unlearn.

They consider him a beat, then add, "I'd start you on small things, anyway, if you don't know anything at this point. How to fall without hurting yourself. Breaking holds long enough to run."

And talk to him Sora will, because holy moly, a new face. He's not an instructor, but he'll welcome anyone, even if he's still trying to keep a healthy distance from this newcomer in particular. (Healthy, not timid. Will's fine! Sora just has a feeling that he'll thank himself later for not coming on too strong.)

"Here." Sora takes a wooden practice sword from the pile in the corner and walks over, extending the handle to Will. "Hold onto this for me."

Sora, uh, is going to try and make something up, to be honest! Because what he actually wants to do is give Will a leg-up if he actually does want to try participating in self-defense so Mr. Javert doesn't yell at him, but he'd like to save Will's pride from that. But! Also! Sora's kind of a terrible liar, so this may smell like a whole load of bullshit.

"I keep getting yelled at for having the wrong grip on my sword, and like. Best way to learn something is to teach it, right?" Sora looks at Will as c a s u a l l y as he can. "You down?"
