[ between the bridge and his future treehouse, dick's not seen often around town. he prefers to be in the woods. by himself after the shitty graves. he doesn't sleep for the next few days, wondering if some other shit is going to creep up on the town. but he's only human. he falls asleep in the first place he can find with enough space.

but soon as he opens his eyes, he's back on patrol. he has a route to himself down to the river and back. always watching the water.

he's careful not to ninja his way to the bank. there's no reason to scare others by coming out of the dark. he stops to let the stranger see the blue light of his lantern. ]

Hey. [ he doesn't need to see using the light to make out the feeling of another person. but it's more polite. ]

( he an' dick are discussin' the matter of the gym amongst themselves when the subject of folk who might know how to put together a reasonable regiment comes up. ain't nobody around that does pt like a military-minded man. the el-tee don't seem the sort, but wash — he's got that amiable air to him that means folks who ain't military will be inclined to like an' trust him. so — )

Y'met Wash yet? Reckon he'd be a good candidate so far as trainin' goes. He's one of Kyna's.

( more to it than that, but so far just sayin' wash is friends with both gene himself an' kyna ought to be enough of a recommendation. )

[ that's what soldiers are reliable for. a vigilante's training regimen is similarly punishing. dick was better suited than others. gymnastics was a flip away from martial arts. he's not contemplating leading a class. wanting to keep to himself.

but he'd want to know who he's sharing the space with. keep an eye on them. his threat files aren't written down. they're taking shape, slowly.

Well, he's a Marine for starters. Some other manner'a special forces he ain't talked too much on too, an' I know he's done trainin' for some folks along the way. I ain't seen him operate in a leadership capacity, but I got a feelin' he's good at it. Honest fella, cares about others. Bit on the cagey side, but that's marines for ya. An' I don't think he'll put civilians off too much neither.

( which is somethin' you always gotta watch for. there are detractors in every age. buildin' a good rapport with those that ain't never served will be important on down the line. )
