[Bruce would not call it cautious optimism that pushes him forward. He is too careful about the checks and balances around him, to attentive to what leverage is possessed, what could be considered dangerous and how to account for it. He does believe that change is possible, there are some good minds here and a genuine willingness to see the cause through to the end, even if some motives are more selfish than others. This is not a new quality. Bruce has always been both stubborn and idealistic, perhaps it was only a matter of time before the two married.

As for the matter of 'why they're here' it's the kind of greater understanding, greater force in the universe question that he prefers not to ask. There are more immediate, more pressing concerns.]

[It's true that a great deal of curiosity- of time, energy, and resources, has been spent on the spirits sharing this world with them. That's simply fact, whether Bruce agrees with the allocation (he doesn't) is moot.]

It's easier for people to try and understand or control something tangible- what they can see and hear. The spirits are an omnipresent force in a way that the World Eaters are not.
