( CLOSED ) I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT I WAS DANGEROUS.
characters: Javert and Kol.
location: Around the town, patrolling.
date/time: Nighttime, sometime mid-December.
content: Javert's a dumb-dumb who broke his left hand and got bit/scarred by spirits, and Kol's a good samaritan who's decided to perhaps be truthful with Javert about who he really is and help.
warnings: Vampire blood healing. Great friendship.
[ finding javert is easy, although it's probably a lot harder for someone who isn't kol. he walks with a quiet confidence that's hard to hear amongst all the noises of beacon, but it's one that he can zero in on and locate anywhere. it helps that he has super duper super hearing.
locating him on the outskirts of the town, he'd had every intention of signalling to meet him back at the invincible once he's done watching the dark and seeing how its shadows haven't changed at all. the recent spirit attack has been one that's left even him shaken. the dream is still something he's trying to decipher and unpack. hearing what had happened in the town during his slumber has only put him further on edge.
possibly not as on edge as javert, although it's merely an assumption. he's a difficult man to read, even for someone as old as kol. it's partly why he hesitates in leaving him be; whatever had happened while he'd been asleep, it must have gotten beneath javert's skin. the entire town felt heavy with anxiety.
rather than walking away, kol approaches him. ]
Mate. [ it's not said in a friendly, overly excited tone. he can see the bite marks as clear as a brightly lit day, it's said out of concern. ] What happened to your face?

There are claw marks across his cheek — as Kol notices — scabbed over and red, bite marks. His left hand is in a splint and wrapped in bandages. There wounds running down the length of his arm, deep enough to have needed stitches, though it's impossible to tell with his coat on. He isn't quite so shaken mentally, but physically? He's seen better days. When Kol makes mention of this, Javert scoffs. )
It is nothing. ( He says, even though the other man's concern is quite touching. ) Why are you following me?

it's true, even if beacon does do its best to try and be as entertaining as possible. between the games available at the community centre, the sporting facilities and parks, the dangerous explorations, and the all-you-can-eat coma buffet, this place has been a party. if wounds earned in his dream were actually strong enough to penetrate reality, his fingernails would be missing. that doesn't make playing dominos very fun.
lifting his hand, he gestures to his cheek—the wrong one to best represent javert. ] Did you get those pretty marks from a spirit?

( He grounds out, irritated, but not at Kol. He is only irritated with himself for allowing the spirit to strike him, and with everyone else for asking if he's all right. How his face looks is not so much a concern of his, but he wishes that he would not be pitied. Before Kol can ask how it happened, Javert explains, )
The creature is dead, if you must know. Lord Zihuan and I were checking the inn's fortifications when the thing attacked us. It took our combined might to subdue it.

It's a good thing you were both awake. We would've been fucked if you hadn't killed it. [ crass language for a really crass fact. it disturbs kol that he had been asleep when this had happened and hadn't once stirred, hence the language. he's angry at himself for not being awake to do what he does best—make a bloody mess.
looking javert over, he shakes his head. ] It did quite a number on you, didn't it?

It was a spirit in the most literal sense. It had no body, but it had arms, legs, and a head, with teeth.
( Which explains the bite marks, not only on his face but beneath the bandages on his hand. Javert doesn't seem overly perturbed, though, saying, )
I should be grateful that it wasn't my dominant hand.

[ kol looks genuinely concerned. the splint is a decent giveaway that javert most likely has, but then, javert is a man who is quite resourceful and may know how to somehow bandage and create a splint… all with one hand. ]
Someone who at least knows something about treating wounds. [ then, with a teasing tone, ] Unless you're also secretly a doctor.

( He doesn't know what to do in the face of his concern, and so he brushes it off. He wouldn't die of a broken hand, and the wounds on his face were not so severe. He would only be wasting the doctor's time if he asked for help during the siege, and so he had never asked and suffered with it until now. He scoffs a bit, )
I can take care of myself well enough. This isn't the first time I've been injured, you realize.

[ as much as kol wants to believe injuries sustained in any realm post-death are as dangerous as a tickle, he'd been hunted and tortured by dead witches for the time he'd spent in the ancestral realm. if he'd been as greatly injured as javert, he never would've stood a chance in fighting them.
he doesn't need to think it over. javert is one of the select few he'd do anything for. kindness and loyalty goes a long, long way with kol. if he can give him a slip of relief, well... someone best tell santa he shouldn't get coal for christmas.
with a glance down, ] I might be able to help with the healing process. Unless, of course, you're a fan of wearing bandages for the next few weeks. I'm hardly one to judge.
no subject
How? ( He asks, brow furrowing as he cradles his injured hand in the other. ) I thought you couldn't use magic.
( He isn't a doctor either, not anymore than Javert is. )

[ still a store spot, a thousand plus years later. if he'd died as a witch, perhaps he'd be of far more use than he is as an old af vampire, but there's no point in dwelling. he can help javert, possibly better than a witch can.
exhaling through his nose, he glances down at the ground. easily picking up a flat looking stone, kol flips his hand over so his palm faces up and drags the rather blunt tip along his palm. pressing hard enough, he cuts a crooked line across his palm. as soon as he reaches the base of his hand, the start of the line he's drawn begins to heal.
tossing the stone away, kol keeps his palm facing up as his skin slowly patches itself together. ]
But I'm something else. My blood heals surface to non-fatal wounds within a matter of seconds, sometimes minutes.

And you're certain that would work on me?
( He seems skeptical, but not as much as he would be, considering it's Kol. )

[ in most cases, anyway. werewolf bites require his brother's blood, and he's certain life-threatening diseases may or may not be immune… but he's trying to sell a confident case here, you know.
he has to say it easily, ensuring his body language conveys this is completely fine. he hasn't spent the last few months pretending to be something he used to be—a witch, incapable of using magic because he had died. being a vampire and outing himself as one is dangerous. it's still dangerous, although he doubts—and hopes—javert poses no threat.
gently, ] It's only if you want it. I'm not going to force you.
