EVENT LOG: TURN THE LIGHTS OFF

EVENT LOG:
TURN THE LIGHTS OFF
characters: everyone.
location: around town.
date/time: january 20-29.
content: the lanterns begin to malfunction.
warnings: body horror and psychological horror. please cw tags appropriately.
you'll become one
January 20th arrives the same as all the days before it. There's no great pulse of warning that throbs through the air, no ominous wind that causes the bonfire to shudder. The spirits are neither agitated nor do they hide. You could almost miss the change, if the lanterns weren't always by your side. There's no explanation that comes with the way that it's changed, but it's impossible not to worry when it's happened so suddenly.
Maybe it takes a few days, or maybe it only takes a few hours, but suddenly it isn't just the lanterns that have changed. You, yourself, have become somehow different. It's possible that you won't even have the right state of mind to wonder how long it will last. At the very least, it appears you aren't alone. All across Beacon, lanterns are changing, and changing the people with them.
Out in the distance, the lighthouse's beam has turned green.

[Blue is a hotter flame than red isn't it? He's not an expert on fire but he's fairly certain that's how it works.]
That could account for the cracks. If they should shatter however...
[Then what? The flame would be more susceptible to blowing out and them dying. He's not sure he wants to think about that possibility.]

[When the flames get weaker, they feel weaker. They should know or feel something when fire changes color unless it changed because... a year passed? A certain amount of time passed? Ignis is frustrated a bit that he can't pinpoint the reason about it all.]
If the glass shatters, we will have to make a cover for the fire from other materials; so long the fire doesn't go out, we will be fine.

[Could it be all the fighters are blue? Maybe all the scientist types are red? The lighthouse is green so maybe those that can't defend themselves are green? He doesn't know. Any guess is as good as another.]
Other than knowing something is wrong I don't feel any different.
no subject
Perhaps that's the thing. Perhaps that 'knowing' that something is wrong is why the color changed? Maybe our innate instincts changed somehow.
Nothing else comes to mind.

[Because obviously. A cracked lantern is a pretty clear indication something is wrong.]

Yes. And it doesn't include the worry over the fact that the lantern is cracked. Something more than just that. As if there's something lurking around.

Do let me know should you see anything?
[Or hear anything. Or feel anything. In fact let him know if a chair is 3 cm out of place because he's that jumpy.]
no subject
[Since he is the first one that noticed these things with Ignis.]
