EVENT LOG: TURN THE LIGHTS OFF

EVENT LOG:
TURN THE LIGHTS OFF
characters: everyone.
location: around town.
date/time: january 20-29.
content: the lanterns begin to malfunction.
warnings: body horror and psychological horror. please cw tags appropriately.
you'll become one
January 20th arrives the same as all the days before it. There's no great pulse of warning that throbs through the air, no ominous wind that causes the bonfire to shudder. The spirits are neither agitated nor do they hide. You could almost miss the change, if the lanterns weren't always by your side. There's no explanation that comes with the way that it's changed, but it's impossible not to worry when it's happened so suddenly.
Maybe it takes a few days, or maybe it only takes a few hours, but suddenly it isn't just the lanterns that have changed. You, yourself, have become somehow different. It's possible that you won't even have the right state of mind to wonder how long it will last. At the very least, it appears you aren't alone. All across Beacon, lanterns are changing, and changing the people with them.
Out in the distance, the lighthouse's beam has turned green.

Dude! What was that for? You almost took my toes off!
[Should he...pick the dagger up? He's not sure if he should even move right now.]
no subject
My sincerest apologies, Prompto! Are you alright!? I thought it was-
[-who? He has no idea who he thought it would be, but he seriously had bad crawls spreading down his back.]
no subject
It's...it's fine, I'm fine. I think my heart might've stopped for a second there, but don't worry.
[He'll pull the dagger out from where it stuck and hold it out to Ignis.]
You...doin' okay?
no subject
I... may be a bit too tense as of late. [He speaks and still checks if Prompto is actually okay... then behind him, at the stairs to make sure no one is following him.]
Please, join me at the table. There is something wrong with my lantern. I am trying to figure out what so any input would help.
no subject
Can't say I blame you. A lot of stuff has...uh...
[His lantern's glass is colorful, so he doesn't notice when the firelight suddenly shifts to a pale green, a few small cracks appearing on the points as he's walking down the stairs, but he does notice that everything goes silent and still for several seconds. There aren't many people in the area, but as far as he can tell, they've just stopped in the middle of whatever they were doing. But just as quickly as that happens, it's back to normal.
Ignis is at his table already and Prompto's somehow missed half of what he's said.]
Something's wrong? It's cracked in a few places...maybe you've bumped it against something?
no subject
I take much care of my lantern here, and when I am in the building, I carry it in my hand for that reason precisely. [He sighs as he turns his lantern around as if trying to find anything that will help him solve what's going on.]
Also the color. The lantern never changed color before.
no subject
[He sets his own lantern down on the table, adjusting it so that it doesn't tip over and fall off the table or put the flame out--why'd he end up with such an oddly shaped one?--pausing to peer at it, giving Ignis' a glance as well.]
Mine's changed too...not the same color as yours, though.
no subject
[He doesn't like the thought that he was careless enough to let spirits get to his lantern. That's really disturbing him right now- if they can reach it now, who knows what can happen later.]
Did it? [Ignis frowns and looks down at Prompto's star-shaped lantern.] May I take a look?
