EVENT LOG: FEAST OF LIGHTS

EVENT LOG:
FEAST OF LIGHTS
characters: everyone.
location: around town.
date/time: december 23 - 30
content: Holiday cheer is here!
warnings: n/a. please cw tags appropriately.
a show of lights
When characters wake on the "morning" of the 23rd, they'll find all of Beacon is lit up beautifully. Spirits have carefully placed candles all around the town, lighting up the familiar buildings and streets with a warm, comforting glow. If others wish to help, they're more than welcome, but it won't take too long: they've clearly spent all night getting things ready. If asked, Rastus will explain the spirits do this every few years, and yes, those candles are lit from the bonfire, but he'll get them back before the end of the event.
Once the spirits finish their task, it's time to hand out dreidels! While the four-sided toy has the usual Hebrew letters on it, characters will soon realize that they've little correlation to the typical rules. Instead: each side offers a certain kind of prize (listed below). Characters can play against the spirits or among themselves, but either way, they'll find a personal dreidel in their possession for the duration of the event.
secret santa
Of course, the spirits aren't the only ones in a holiday mood. Thanks to the tireless (and secretive) efforts of Eleven, quite a number of people wake up to find a present nearby. The wrappings vary from elegant to, well, an effort, and the gifts range form big to small, but there's no doubt each was given with at least a little thoughtfulness in mind.

Because the Soldier's feelings about not having very many memories are decidedly mixed. The vast majority of the ones they do have are horrible, and the good ones take a lot of help to bring back. But they're still theirs, if they're not too cowardly to claim them. So. Mixed feelings. Most of which stay shuttered behind a calm expression, regardless.
They shrug a little, finally, and say, "I'll remember your tradition. And Crowley's, with the candy inside shoes. And the gift-giving. They all seem like good ones. I wanted to ask you about patrols, too."

Besides, as far as he could tell they'd been really toeing that stupid line as of late. Unless they could start to come together and act with the good of the group in mind he didn't have high hopes for their success rate. He knew he shouldn't think that way, but he wasn't exactly feeling optimistic after the past month.
"The stupid part is what worries me," he finally admits. He does offer a small smile at the fact that the Soldier will remember their traditions. He has to agree, those are some good ones.
Jason raises an eyebrow, "Yeah? I haven't been out lately, but I was probably going to start again soon. I was recovering." First from his injuries and then from the healing of those injuries since he'd wanted to focus on regaining the proper use of his hand. Based on how his snowmen were turning out, he was more or less back to normal. He was pleased by that, since for awhile he'd been worried that Pluto might have mislead him and he'd be down a hand for the rest of his time down here. "But what about them?"

So focus on the small missions, in the meantime, while smarter and more creative people work on the big one. Like this. "At the town hall. You wanted to coordinate. Javert and I have a schedule. Could add you in, too."

Camp Jupiter worked on shifts anyway, so it's not like that would be anything new.

Even if Bruce probably figures he and his friends have the museum covered. They still go out there, just in case.

None of this showed in his expression except as a way of looking momentarily thoughtful and distant, an expression he wore quite a lot. After a moment he nodded.
"I typically begin and end my day with a patrol, usually on my way back from Javert's training exercises. I've mostly stuck to the main areas, but now that we're starting to expand it might be a good idea to start branching out...maybe even have people do simultaneous sweeps or at least cover more ground at the same time." It still made him nervous, going out on his own. Not that he didn't think he could handle himself, but it just wasn't how things had ever been done back home. You didn't do solo because that was how you got picked off. A lone wolf was something only in fiction, in reality it was much better to be with the pack or, in the case of demigods, comrades in arms.
"I sometimes like to get a peak from the air, but with the recent attacks I've been more careful about that," Jason admitted.

And if Jason wanted to team up together for one, honestly, they wouldn't say no. It is technically safer, especially given the potential for hallucinations and not knowing what's real. They just haven't even considered asking about it. It's that initiative problem they've got.

"Staggering the patrols isn't a bad idea actually. As we've discovered more territory it's gotten harder to keep track of all of the things going on, so it'd make sense to spread us out if we had enough people involved." Jason would need to reach out, he'd sort of been sitting on that for awhile and now might be the time to coordinate this properly. He couldn't use the poor weather as an excuse, something could still happen.
"I haven't asked yet...but I'll let you know if we get more volunteers. If we got enough people, we could do a combination of staggering and maybe sharing the patrol."
