EVENT LOG: GRAVES

EVENT LOG:
GRAVES

characters: everyone.
location: Bonfire Square.
date/time: July 12-19.
content: mysterious shrines appear and bring visions of death.
warnings: likely violence and potentially gore.

time to pay your respects.

It happens when no one is looking, when most of the town is asleep and the rest are inside. A makeshift cemetery has come to Beacon, taking up residence in the middle of Bonfire Square. Each monument, shrine, and altar is dedicated to someone who now resides here, a memorial of their previous life.

Some may be drawn by curiosity, others by fear, and some may simply have to pass through this strange graveyard to get to the Bonfire itself. Whenever a person gets near, the altars beckon with a mysterious urge— an urge to approach, and an urge to leave something behind. They will feel compelled to make offerings at the various shrines, but doing so has a curious effect; it causes one to experience the death of the person whose grave they've honored.

Whether you resist the compulsion or give in willingly (or something in between), you'll also have to wrestle with the fact that a grave exists for you. Will you let your death be known, or try your best to keep it secret? Destroying it sure won't work, as it will return— with a duplicate somewhere else in town.

However you choose to deal with this, one thing is hard to ignore— this a tangible reminder of your death, and the fact that it's probably permanent.

[ after his visit to the marker and the eye-opening experience of the death he went through, daylight is quick to make his way to the invincible.

he's- he's surprisingly quiet, compared to how he usually acts. his expression is more solemn and his winglets are pulled back from, not fear, but as a sign of respect. they're pulled and drawn down at a certain angle, something the flier models will do when showing camaraderie or acknowledge to someone who deserves it. ]

Hey. [ daylight just stops short of the table, mindful of how much space he's taking. he's learned a lot of folks are on edge and probably want to have some sense of personal space during the start of conversations. ] ... Are you still up for answering questions?

[It's this accessibility that has Rosinante second-guessing whether he really wants to stay here near the bar or just retreat up to his room, but he'd told Daylight he would be available and he intends to remain so. The table has a mostly-full glass of beer on it, but judging by the scattered rings of liquid on its surface and splatters from at least one spill, it isn't his first.

He looks up from the tablet at the robot's approach - hard to miss, isn't he? - and nods slowly, then gestures toward an empty seat. Like himself, Daylight probably has to contort a bit to fit into the chairs, so it's a loose suggestion. For himself, he's taken to just carrying a pillow down here and sitting cross-legged on the floor.]

Depends on the questions, but yeah. Join me.

[He doesn't sound slurred yet. Good timing.]

Thanks.

[ daylight is quick to slip into one of the chairs. he's been getting a lot better in getting into furniture here, late.y it's almost like he's adjusting to the surroundings and is that a good thing or a bad thing?

he tries to put that thought aside for now. there's a more pressing subject to tackle and that's the question: how?

for a few seconds, there's awkward silence on daylight's end. there's a lot he wants to ask, a lot he wants to know but... he can tell that a lot of people's feelings are running high... last thing he wants to do is push too far. ]

Alright- [ with those thoughts, er, thought through- ] I guess the best question to ask right now is what questions don't you want me to ask? About anyone? About anything?

Because... Just say it and I promise I won't make a peep over it.
callada: (we came here to ask if you'd stop)

[His mind is running a little slower than usual thanks to the alcohol, he notices, as he mulls it over. This will be the last drink, then. No need getting completely stupid around these people.

Most of what he doesn't want to talk about, ever, with anyone, isn't likely to come up at all based on what happened around the time of his death. People here won't know to ask, and so he'll easily avoid answering. There are certainly other sensitive subjects, of course, but by mentioning them at all, he'll admit their sensitivity. There are things he can't and shouldn't say also due to their confidential status, but those answers are better given as lies. Again, mentioning them as important or to be avoided indicates that they are meaningful.

So eventually, he shakes his head a little, and the tails of the earflaps on his hat shake with the movement.]

I can't think of anything in particular. If something comes up, I'll just let you know as we go. Just asking doesn't itself bother me.
