EVENT LOG: GRAVES

EVENT LOG:
GRAVES
characters: everyone.
location: Bonfire Square.
date/time: July 12-19.
content: mysterious shrines appear and bring visions of death.
warnings: likely violence and potentially gore.
time to pay your respects.
It happens when no one is looking, when most of the town is asleep and the rest are inside. A makeshift cemetery has come to Beacon, taking up residence in the middle of Bonfire Square. Each monument, shrine, and altar is dedicated to someone who now resides here, a memorial of their previous life.
Some may be drawn by curiosity, others by fear, and some may simply have to pass through this strange graveyard to get to the Bonfire itself. Whenever a person gets near, the altars beckon with a mysterious urge— an urge to approach, and an urge to leave something behind. They will feel compelled to make offerings at the various shrines, but doing so has a curious effect; it causes one to experience the death of the person whose grave they've honored.
Whether you resist the compulsion or give in willingly (or something in between), you'll also have to wrestle with the fact that a grave exists for you. Will you let your death be known, or try your best to keep it secret? Destroying it sure won't work, as it will return— with a duplicate somewhere else in town.
However you choose to deal with this, one thing is hard to ignore— this a tangible reminder of your death, and the fact that it's probably permanent.

His comment makes a small smile tug on the corners of her lips, though, the amusement doesn't seem to reach her eyes. Ignis is right. He's fortunate in that he was able to choose his end for the sake of what he believed in. Kairi was simply caught off guard when fighting, no doubt used to provoke her friends into action. )
Well...I hope we'll find a way back. Though, I don't know what it would mean for everything that happened...
( Messing with timelines isn't exactly her specialty. But in an effort to lighten the conversation even a small bit, she changes the subject. )
So! Where are you from? What's it like there?

He is silent for a moment, tilting his head back. The best way to describe Eos...]
It is home... the town I grew up fell to the Empire, so I travelled with my King far and wide across Eos. Tall mountains, beautiful green pastures, the rain, chocobos, endless sea and golden beaches... the World was our home then. [His lips twitch slightly at the memories.] We slept under the stars on warm, clear nights, in rundown motels when it rained; we saw people of every age and every animal and plant there is.
[They all fought to protect all of that. He wonders, now that they are here, what will happen to it...]

It sounds like a great place. The fact that you could see both mountains and the sea makes you pretty lucky! I would have liked to have seen somewhere like that.
( She can only imagine being so well traveled. It reminds her of how Sora might describe the people and places he's seen. Unfortunately, her experience is a lot more limited. )
Did you have a family back home?
