EVENT LOG: GRAVES

EVENT LOG:
GRAVES
characters: everyone.
location: Bonfire Square.
date/time: July 12-19.
content: mysterious shrines appear and bring visions of death.
warnings: likely violence and potentially gore.
time to pay your respects.
It happens when no one is looking, when most of the town is asleep and the rest are inside. A makeshift cemetery has come to Beacon, taking up residence in the middle of Bonfire Square. Each monument, shrine, and altar is dedicated to someone who now resides here, a memorial of their previous life.
Some may be drawn by curiosity, others by fear, and some may simply have to pass through this strange graveyard to get to the Bonfire itself. Whenever a person gets near, the altars beckon with a mysterious urge— an urge to approach, and an urge to leave something behind. They will feel compelled to make offerings at the various shrines, but doing so has a curious effect; it causes one to experience the death of the person whose grave they've honored.
Whether you resist the compulsion or give in willingly (or something in between), you'll also have to wrestle with the fact that a grave exists for you. Will you let your death be known, or try your best to keep it secret? Destroying it sure won't work, as it will return— with a duplicate somewhere else in town.
However you choose to deal with this, one thing is hard to ignore— this a tangible reminder of your death, and the fact that it's probably permanent.

... That was actually a clever move on Kuai's part but not something he'd say out loud. But at least it kept him from making another move.
Well, mostly. He shifted his gaze to where the shadow was standing and considered if making an attack that way was worth the risk to the lantern.

If he found out what had been done maybe he'd have a better idea of how it could be reversed.

One day, he'd directly say what he meant instead of purposely being cryptic. But that day wasn't today. As soon as he could be free of the ice, he'd attack Kuai again. He just had to have patience and attack his brother verbally instead.
Or with the shadow Clone, but even leaving the lantern meant his brother could make a move towards it. Not that he expected him to do so, but it was still a risk.

But.. he does follow what Bi-Han is saying. "Not having any emotions?"
Though that doesn't follow because Noob Saibot definitely has emotions or he wouldn't be going after Kuai in a blind rage for no reason.

Talking managed to do one thing, and that was shift his attention away from attacking Kuai. He seemed fall back in line with being more in control of himself and not striking out in rage. Part of that was from being physically unable to.
The rest came from playing these partial mind games with his brother. He kind of wanted Kuai to figure it out for himself. And wondered if that would also break him.
He kind of hoped it would.
But he also was just waiting for the ice to give enough for him to strike out again.
"Emotions can be a driving force," Scorpion and his rage being a prime example, "but to make someone a flawless killer, which would you take away?"
no subject
"You want me to guess?" He snorted, looking away. "Empathy."
That.. made a disturbing amount of sense about why Bi-Han acted the way he did. And why it was impossible for the two of them to communicate.

What little remained of Bi-Han under the black darkness of evil and death latched onto the idea of tormenting his brother. These mind games were mild compared what he'd normally consider doing.
The freezing him in place had put a stop to their fighting. Previously he was waiting for the right moment to continue, for the ice to give way. But when it did, he took a step forward, but that was about all.
The rage from before had all but faded by now, the distraction of their discussion was enough. Though there was still a part of him that wanted to spill Kuai's blood, which might have been slightly apparent by the grip he held on the sickles. He might have stayed in place, but the thoughts were there, lingering.

He was still on the defensive, though he'd lowered his guard somewhat. This was likely another trick by his brother to get Kuai to leave an opening where he could dash in and eviscerate him. He was doing a fairly good job of that with words alone.
"I was never going to live up to your impossible standards. I've known that since I was a child."
no subject
He ignored the first part, the question about why he cared. He actually didn't have an answer. Causing his brother torment was one of his driving forces ... but he couldn't say if it was from resentment over him using his name or just the fact that he still remained human.
... Even after being cyberized he regained his humanity.
Standing up straighter, he brought both sickles together turning them back into one. With a small movement he flipped it in his hand before sticking it through his own back.

Someone who wasn't nearly as principled would have had some sort of outburst.
What Kuai did was quietly walk up closer to Bi-Han, narrow his eyes, and then punch him full in the face.
He's done with this conversation, turning and storming off back to the inn.
