EVENT LOG: GRAVES

EVENT LOG:
GRAVES
characters: everyone.
location: Bonfire Square.
date/time: July 12-19.
content: mysterious shrines appear and bring visions of death.
warnings: likely violence and potentially gore.
time to pay your respects.
It happens when no one is looking, when most of the town is asleep and the rest are inside. A makeshift cemetery has come to Beacon, taking up residence in the middle of Bonfire Square. Each monument, shrine, and altar is dedicated to someone who now resides here, a memorial of their previous life.
Some may be drawn by curiosity, others by fear, and some may simply have to pass through this strange graveyard to get to the Bonfire itself. Whenever a person gets near, the altars beckon with a mysterious urge— an urge to approach, and an urge to leave something behind. They will feel compelled to make offerings at the various shrines, but doing so has a curious effect; it causes one to experience the death of the person whose grave they've honored.
Whether you resist the compulsion or give in willingly (or something in between), you'll also have to wrestle with the fact that a grave exists for you. Will you let your death be known, or try your best to keep it secret? Destroying it sure won't work, as it will return— with a duplicate somewhere else in town.
However you choose to deal with this, one thing is hard to ignore— this a tangible reminder of your death, and the fact that it's probably permanent.

What?!

We can have multiple gravestones?
You have multiple gravestones? Do you have multiple gravestones???
[ having never gone out of his way to destroy his marker, a confused daylight is very confused, very concerned and it very much shows. ]
no subject
where is it?
no subject
thank goodness no one else can feel his em field. they'll probably be hit hard by the feedback loop. ]
Next to my grave, actually.
It's at the very 'entrance' of this cemetery if that makes sense? Does it? [ does anything about this situation they're in make any sense? probably not. ]
no subject
he already broke one. does he have to break another?
how many of these things are there? ]
yeah it does. heading there now.
( text to action. )
[ you definitely can't. not with daylight's bright colours and large size. especially when he's next to his grave that happens to be proportional to his size. (aka bigger than everything else, just like daylight.)
standing beside his marker, looking uncomfortable with its presence but doing his level best to ignore it, it seems- it seems like daylight was trying to hide dick's own, to the best of his abilities.
there's a large sheet of paper taped on the front, with the words 'don't bother!' is written across it and it's been underlined for emphasis. ]
Hi, Mr. Dick. [ seeing a familiar face now, daylight begins to relax from his guard. ] I- I made sure no one bothered your marker. Not subtle but I, um, thought it got the point across.
no subject
but something is always trying to get out.
and it does, when he realizes daylight is shielding his grave. he's next to his own, but it's dick's headstone he's blocking. dick's memories he's preventing others from seeing.
something gives way before it gets out. he stares. and then he shakes his head. ]
Thanks. I really...
I appreciate it. [ he's going to shut up before he has an emotion!!!!!! ]
