content: A mingle log for rebuilding the docks and/or generally if you'd like to have your character help with a mini-project. Feel free to throw up your own TLs! I am also still on slowatus until the 6th but wanted to put this up with ample time before Sandman!
warnings: N/A. If you would like to handwave your involvement, please just lmk and I'll add you to a list or something so everyone can just assume your character was around

The wood, cut and planked, sits in a pile on the beach, covered in whatever tarp-like object can be found to keep it from getting wet. On the bright side, the ferry comes in when they finish gathering supplies for the dock - so they don't have to gather more, and they don't have to rebuild a ferry. Still, large trunks are prepared for weather and hammered into the water, and don't get much of a chance to stand alone before a small group of people descend on them to cobble together a little dock. Not as grand nor as finely-made as the previous one, it will be nonetheless sturdy and usable, with hopefully no further changes for the last two years it may need to exist.

( ambrose snickers and shakes his head. )

You look like you belong at Woodstock.

[lunchbreaks]

What is Woodstock, is that a shop?

[ Another gesture, and he's got a flashy silver-black ombre mullet that looks like it's made of tinsel. ]

[necromantiae]

Woodstock was a big music festival back in the sixties. It was outdoor and fell of people with hair like that who just did a lot of drugs, had a lot of sex and listened to music.

( ambrose hadn't attended. )

Now, that's a mullet. That's amazing.

[lunchbreaks]

[ He reminds himself that Ambrose means the 1960s. ]

Only the once?

I imagine you had a good time.

[ Another turn and now he has a very mod 60s haircut, big and round with a thick fringe. ]

[necromantiae]

Oh, I didn't go. I just heard about it.

( he'd been a little busy at the time. )

But, it was a pretty big thing. People still talk about it to this day and people have tried to put on variations of it but it's never been quite the same.

[lunchbreaks]

I suppose it'd be hard to replicate here as there's a dearth of both music and drugs.

[ A beat. ]

Actually, I suppose we have zero for three.

[necromantiae]

But we have booze!

( which was something, right? )

I never was much into drugs, anyway. I tried them because I was young and dumb once but I realized they weren't much my thing pretty quickly. So, the lack of those here isn't too much of an issue. I do miss music though.

[lunchbreaks]

Well--! I had asked Rastus for a record player. I did last time as well, but it... it's at the bottom of the lake, unfortunately.

[necromantiae]

Oh, well.

( probably not going to do anyone any good there. )

I'm sure someone could get down there and get it but if it works, I'd be surprised. But hey, this place is weird so it might surprise us.

[lunchbreaks]

Well, I'm hoping Rastus can just find us a new one!

I hope he's got the same records picked out as last time, while I was unboxing I saw one labeled A Night at the Opera. That sounds wonderful.

[necromantiae]

Yeah, that sounds...

( like opera. )

That your kind of music? Opera?

[lunchbreaks]

[ Ambrose will be so excited to find it's actually a Queen album. ]

Oh, yes. Opera is such a lovely new-- lovely way of telling a story.

[necromantiae]

It's kind of...loud, isn't it?

( he was generalizing, he knows, but he's never been one to get into opera. )

Loud and long.

[lunchbreaks]

Well, that's the point. It's a story told through song, with a technique loud enough so everyone can hear you. Some of them are quite beautiful, though if you speak Italian they're much easier to enjoy!

[necromantiae]

So, it's movie? A movie musical?

( he knows what an opera is and he's even seen one a time or two but they never were his favorite thing. )

I think I'd prefer something that I can put on pause and walk away from without missing an important part of the story.

[lunchbreaks]

Well, that's why they have an intermission!

And it's supposed to be a live show. We won't get any of that, you'll be able to pause the record.

[necromantiae]

Right, an intermission.

( he can't help it, he laughs a bit. even if it doesn't sound like something he'd much be a fan of, he'd really like the normalcy of something like that. )

Well, that's something. I can't remember the last time I listened to a record. That'll take me back a bit.

[lunchbreaks]

Oh. What do you listen to now?

[ He's perking up and taking mental notes because while he plans on donating the record player and records to the whole town, he does have ambitions of pleasing his two very musically-oriented friends, whose tastes are completely foreign to him. ]

Are they-- those... silvery small records?

[necromantiae]

You mean compact discs? Yeah, those are definitely still around but a lot of what people listen to these days is digital.

( he waits to see if that makes sense to aziraphale before going further. )

You can put it in your laptop, your phone, your whatever. Take it with you without all the baggage.

[lunchbreaks]

How do I... acquire digital music?

[ He blinks owlishly, as if speaking a foreign language for the first time. ]

Well, it usually requires an electronic device of some kind and an internet connection which...

( he looks around and shrugs. )

I don't think we have those here. Afterlife doesn't come with good wifi.

[lunchbreaks]

...Oh.

And I don't suppose we could ask Rastus for Internet? Or... wifi?

[necromantiae]

We could but...I don't know how they'd managed it. It would have to be some magical internet.

( not too many telecom companies hanging out in the afterlife. )

Well, Rastus is very magical. I shall give it a shot.

[necromantiae]

Let me know how it goes because I'd be interested in seeing what he can do.

( if he was magical enough to get them wifi, that'd be damn impressive. )
