EVENT LOG: BURY A FRIEND

EVENT LOG:
BURY A FRIEND
characters: everyone.
location: around town.
date/time: october 9-17.
content: the hallucinations begin...
warnings: psychological horror. please cw tags appropriately.
it's probably something that shouldn't be said out loud
October 9 feels like a normal day at first, save for the red lighthouse beam cutting through the darkness overhead. You know by now—or you've heard—that the lighthouse is only active during ferry arrivals and events... And there's definitely no ferry docked at the, er. Beach. The town is quiet, the forest spirits behave business-as-usual, Rastus doesn't know what's up. Whatever's going on, you'll have to figure it out for yourself.
And you will, though the hallucinations are subtle at first: objects moving when they shouldn't, people's proportions looking just a bit off, voices in an empty room, and so on. Is it just your mind playing tricks in the darkness? Might be! Will did warn you all about the effects of living without a sun and a proper day/night cycle.
As the days go on, the hallucinations are harder to ignore, no matter how much you may wish to wave them off as flukes. What's wrong with everyone's faces? When did all the howling start? Who do you hold onto when the world drops out from under you? And those hands...
While you might know it can't be real, it certainly feels real. But at least it can't last forever!
...Right?

( prompt: hellhound?! )
[ daylight doesn't know how jo has the strength to tug him along but he chalks it up to, of course, his ailing frame just breaking down some more. he's honestly surprised that she's willing to hold him, given how broken down and leaky his entire body is starting to become.
he finds himself trailing after jo, a little dazed and unsure of how to react. but only for a few seconds. when he gathers his wits and realises what's happening, he tries to stop them both in his tracks and figure out what's going on. ]
Jo- Jo- What's wrong? Is something happening?
Re: ( prompt: hellhound?! )
I know it's going to sound weird, but you won't be able to see them. Hellhounds. Big dogs.

seeing nothing there (of course), daylight turns his attention back to jo and his optics are wide and full of worry. the last few days have been weird and he's not taking any precautions. ]
-Do you need help then? They sound pretty bad to get a name like that. [ daylight wishes he had his arc gun but he left it back at the house, thinking it wouldn't be smart of him to have it here. maybe he should have, now that he knows something is threatening jo. ] What can I do to help? There must be something we can do to get rid of them.

She doesn't have propane and nails here. They can't see the damn things.]
We could stop them with salt, or goofer dust. For a bit. [She thinks for a moment longer before shaking her head.]
Can you hear anything?
no subject
[ ... which is, translated from daylight, is probably a 'no' in regards to her question.
(that, and he's a little too worried/self-conscious to admit the things he's been hearing for a while. so yeah. let's focus on jo's situation since it's really serious-) ]
Salt shouldn't be too hard, the rats aside. There should be salt in the general store. Maybe in the Invincible. [ he has no idea what goofer dust is but presumes it's only from her world- or derived from something only from her world. a lot of animals and plants he thought long extinct/exotic seem common here, after all. ]
Do you need me to be with you? Just in case? I mean- More heads are better than one for this, I think.
no subject
She knows there isn't time to make goofer dust, and even if there was, where would she find a grave here? People don't stay dead.]
General store. We need to move fast. [She isn't going to leave Daylight out here with a Hellhound.]

[ when jo goes, daylight follows. even as his processors begin to feel heavy and weird for some reason, he tries to focus his attentions on the current situation he and jo find themselves in.
it's hard with how it feels like he's going to puke for some reason, nerves and worry perhaps, and tries to distract himself by talking to jo as hey hurry to the general store- ]
I guess it'll be kind of dumb to ask if you've had any personal experience with them, huh?
no subject
A hellhound is why I'm here.
[Well, she sighs, shaking her head.]
I mean, that or the bomb. I don't know.
