It starts with a network post, and then a song begins to play in the Invincible, loud enough to be heard throughout Bonfire Square. Welcome to the scavenger hunt, everyone! You've been tasked with finding 25 "items" in and around Beacon, so hop to it!

Please remember to ICly report your findings on Robin's network post if you want them to count toward a prize! As a further reminder, you're free to interpret the list items however you/your character would like, and you're free to assume your character can find all of these things somewhere in town without running into trouble! Just don't stray too far from town to go gallivanting off into the wilderness, as that might be dangerous. This includes finding forest spirits! You're welcome to NPC your own forest spirit encounters, just like in our last event.

( so, a rare things happen after matt's declaration: ambrose doesn't actually have an immediate reply. he stares for a moment and then ends up laughing, just barely stopping himself from blushing. )

( well, now he has to know who's talking about his looks. )

I would love to give you a picture if you tell me who told you I was beautiful.

I am. I'm a poor judge of aesthetics.

( Matt has his sunglasses on and a walking cane tucked in his elbow so he doesn't think he has to telegraph his blindness any louder than it already is. truth be told, with his stupid superpowers Matt would objectively agree with the assessment, he's just not going to admit to it. and not just because that would require explaining he can sense his surroundings like a bat because Marvel Comics thought that was a good concept for a superhero.

as for coughing up the details on who did the suggesting, Matt does consider just admitting it. it might be embarrassing in the moment, but it wouldn't be that way forever. still, he doesn't want to throw the poor kid under the bus. Grizz can tell Ambrose he's beautiful in his own time, when he's ready. in the meantime, Matt isn't going to squeal on him. )

I can't say. I realize that does little for my case. ( there IS someone, though, okay!!! he's not coming on to anybody, he's just a very good friend. promise. )

So, you're just going to dangle this mystery in front of me and not provide any hints?

( ambrose laughs and shakes his head. it's a terrible tease and he wants to know who's been talking about him but he's not going to push. )

That is exactly what I would do. Hold out until I give you what's needed and then give me another clue, at least. Is it you?

( come on, he has to ask, matt. )

( Ambrose, he once made a career out of convincing people he knew such incriminating information they had no choice but to fold. he's great at using his information to his utmost advantage.

and he's not above giving a hint or two. a lighthearted crush is about the most teenage thing Grizz has to hold onto in Beacon, Matt doesn't see any reason why he shouldn't indulge in it. )

No, a friend directed me your way. You have a very nice voice, that I all I can say with certainty. ( it's the accent, Matt has a thing for accents... ) I trust his judgement. ( that's a tiny (and very intentional) hint! )

( hmm. he's running through various possibilities in his head now, going over who might think he's beautiful that might also know matt. )

Well, thank you for the compliment on my voice. I've worked hard to make it sound as good as it does. ( jokes! ) I'm not going to deny you your picture. Is there anything particular you want me to do for it?

( Matt's not exactly drowning in friends, that probably gave it away more than anything! W HOOPS... sorry Grizz, maybe talk to him less!

I'm not exactly much of a photographer. Tell me, is it asking too much to get you to do the button pressing on top of being the subject? ( look, he'll try, but it'll be awkward, okay??? Ambrose will at least have to tell him when. and if they're even remotely in frame. )

Wow, you're just asking for so much. ( there's an obvious tease in his voice as he gets up and moves closer to matt. ) No, I don't mind. Do you want just my face or does it matter?

( look, if this is going to someone that thinks he's handsome, he wants to make damn sure they like the picture. speaking of... )

You're going to show this to the mystery person, right? I wouldn't want to make them miss out.

You're the architect of this shot, far be it for me to make demands of it.

( he's just along for the ride, because he has to be somewhere in the picture for it to count. he hands over his tablet, figuring Ambrose can find the photo app far easier than he can.

will he be showing it to the mystery admirer? )

I suppose I'll have to, sure.

Will you pass a message along for me to this mystery person?

( ambrose doesn't pose because he doesn't want the shot to look staged or silly but he does smile. )

And tell him or her that they should give me a call because I would love to have a chat with them.

( since there's no warning the picture is about to happen, Matt is not at all posing for it. it's fine, there's no requirement for him to look camera ready, just for him to be in it. )

All right, deal. Seems more than fair, all things considered.

( and it might embolden Grizz to talk to Ambrose on his own, and cut out the blind middleman. Matt figures that's for the best, anyway. )

But, and forgive the question but sometimes I just can't help myself, are you saying you don't think I'm beautiful?

( he's gonna put you on the spot, matt. )

( hey, at least he has a really good excuse to fall back on. )

I wish I could tell. It's hard for me to know without getting pretty up close and personal, and there's no good way to ask someone if you can touch their face.

( due to his bat sonar he has a sense of the fact Ambrose is good looking, yes, though he can't just admit to that!!! truthfully, Matt does wish he could see for himself. he just has to live with the fact he can't. )

Do you want to touch my face?

( sure, that's different and kind of strange but it's also not the strangest thing he's ever heard. )

As long as you don't poke my eyes out, I'm all right with it. Touch away.

Usually I need a couple of whiskeys before I get bold enough to touch faces.

( he won't lie, he's done it. Matt can sense a lot but just not enough. even feeling features isn't quite enough, though when he's tipsy sometimes he likes to try. it's never going to tell him about freckles or the exact shade someone turns when they're blushing, but it's ... something. )

So, we'll save that for when I've been able to get you to sit down for some drinks with me and this mysterious stranger who thinks I'm handsome.

( then, everyone can touch his face. )

It'll give me something to look forward to.

( Ambrose please you are too familiar with your face!!! Matt laughs, at the very least. )

If you ever find him out, I'll take you up on it.

( though he'll probably duck out early so his third wheel status doesn't slow down anything date-like. what a wingman!! )

Oh, I will find him. When I put my mind to something, I always succeed.

( was that the truth? maaaaybe. but, in this, he was determined. )

So, along with the karaoke we still have to do, this is going to be on the future agenda too. It'll be fun.

( so many fun date nights planned! this bromance is off to a flying start. )

I'm waiting for the karaoke machine to show up on the ferry. It has to happen one of these days.

And I will be there to greet every single ferry arrival to check on that.

( or maybe he'd just try and magically create one. that might be cheating though. )

But you're right. It has to happen one day unless the ferry stops coming.

( foreshadowing... maybe Crowley didn't crash the ferry after all, maybe it was karma because Ambrose said that without knocking on wood! )

( this is said with a laugh, indicating Matt really doesn't actually believe this is true. )

( they'd already gone through one of the worst things ever, they deserved a little happiness and silliness, right?

It wouldn't hurt to have some brightness around here.

( even for him, broody blind batman. which is why if it shows up, he'd give it a go. he's already picked their duet. are you ready to go back to the 80s with Having the Time of my Life? they can rock-paper-scissors on who is going to be Baby. )

And hopefully we can convince this mystery third person to join in as well. The more the merrier.

( ambrose really wants to know who he is, okay. )

You've made my day, you know. It's a little hard to do that here so I appreciate this ego boost you've given me.

These things don't tend to stay secret for long.

( Matt is pretty sure Grizz should get to admit it on his own time, when he's ready. it's been a long time since Matt has had a schoolboy crush but he remembers well enough what they were like. not something you'd want someone else squealing on. )
