An excellent idea. Yet, that brings up a related concern. Can Master Rastus procure additional weapons for us, or would we be on our own to somehow...craft them? I don't know enough about firearms to know how those are supplied, and I doubt there's a smith here, but arrows and clubs are easy enough to make.
