"And you're right, but that's— never mind. We've lost each other, I think." He still feels like they're misunderstanding one another on some level, but he's no longer in the mood to pursue it. He tried using his own words, and then he tried using the ones he thought were easier to understand, and they're still basically nowhere. "Probably lost each other a long time ago. As you said, misunderstandings are inevitable. No sense arguing."

Were they arguing, even? Not from his perspective, but he's never sure where other people draw that line. He's also chronically unaware of (or more likely, willfully ignorant of) any awkward silences, so he'll just keep on going with something else.

"So what do you think it is now? Or know. Maybe you've solved that particular mystery."
