Especially given what happened the last (and first, and only) time he tried.

"If they don't come back on their own, maybe we can bring some through the portal. Maybe there's a way to get them to spread and survive with enough light. Will would probably know. That's what he used to do, bring life to dead places."

Which is some sort of poetic parallel, he figures. And while Rosinante's main concern now, long-term, is protecting other places rather than restoring this one, making this world flourish again sure isn't a bad thing.
