After listening to a short loop of the rather repetitive music, the fortune teller shifts to stare directly at Danse with bloodied, vacant eyes. It takes him in before its jaw unhinges, clearly a result of a broken mechanism that would usually make the mouth move. A mechanical voice delivers his fortune:

Do not fear the depths of the dark. There is a friend that would see you travel safely. Know that their protection comes at a cost: A light extinguished for a light saved.

On the way back from the amusement park that night, Danse will find a small fox-like spirit following him. It will follow him when he goes on explores and patrols unless specifically instructed not to. And if danger comes to Danse when the spirit is present, the spirit will take the danger and risk instead. This will, of course, kill or hurt the creature in his stead.
