( they've been out on patrols together hundreds of times, maybe more times than can be counted. that's more than enough time to get a sense of exactly the sort of man Javert is. no nonsense, determined, more worried about the well being and safety of others than he easily lets on.

it's new, though, for his concern to be so obvious. usually because Matt is more than able to hold his own. it does hit a bit differently to have someone visibly and openly worried for him, even though Matt is more than aware what is going on with him.
