He pulls his attention away from the goodies on the table and catches that look, and grins back. Hey, Law? You're welcome. If it were anyone else - some irritating, dangerous child, and someone he could trust to handle them, it would be fair to accuse him of manipulation here. But instead, he genuinely cares about both of them and genuinely thinks they'll probably end up getting along, even if Law will make grumpy noises and anguished faces sometimes. It just so happens the people he loves are like this, apparently.

Starting off strong with a good rule, too. He nods, then leans a bit to reach toward the table and pluck up an apricot. Perfectly ripe, not even bruised. They got lucky on their first try with the portal.

"Used to be that Robin, the lighthouse keeper, coordinated with the folks at the Helix Station in the lake to bring us supplies like this every month so we'd get fed. But when the flood took the lighthouse out, we lost contact with the people at the station, and Robin lost all her controls. There's a backup set of the technology that operates the portal at an old lab out in the woods, but we don't really know how to use it yet. I guess stuff just went everywhere when it activated. Seems like it's in good shape, though."

Delicious, too, as he has a bite of the fruit. Probably everything would come across as heavenly right now, though, given he's barely had a bite to eat since early in May when they started rationing what they had left.
