What is it about Ephrim that gets on every single one of Haein's nerves? Not that it's very hard to do, but it's like the other man knows all the right things to say in order to send Haein spiraling from his normally dark thoughts to something darker.

He's wordless as Ephrim walks by him. There are so many things he could say, the usual insults on the tip of his tongue, but he holds them back. He should be sated from the little stunt at the dock. It should've been enough, the persistent itch from before should be gone.

But it's not. And as he watches Ephrim's figure retreat into the darkness, Haein can't help but dig his fingernails into the palm of his hands, the sharp and sudden pain pulling him away from moment, snapping him out of it. All so that he can walk away.
