[All Quentin had noticed was the head aches and the nose-bleeds. How none of them ever made any light, even the ones with fire. Fireworks, all of it was just dulled down and not giving off light like they should.]

I don't know. Maybe there's a curse that prevents it? A shield of some kind. But really, most of my spells work just fine.
