His new rifle is certainly a fun toy, it isn't like he's going to deny that. Rather than being put off guns entirely thanks to his childhood, he's really taken to them. It's not the guns' fault. People will find all sorts of ways to commit violence with whatever tools they have at hand. Shooting is damn effective and he's glad he's both good at it and finds some enjoyment in lining up a well-aimed shot.
