They're pretty sure HYDRA wiped the part of them that wondered what people thought about them right out of their head. All that mattered was obedience and subservience. The only impression they were allowed to give was either to terrify on command, or be blank and accepting.

Now they're curious. More programming is adjusting to their new life, perhaps.
