The Soldier may be over-reacting to initial impressions, and interpreting signals Aziraphale sends through a warped perception of the angel. But they can't quite get over that little bit of fear, the association with technicians and doctors, and that wary confusion at how hard Aziraphale tries, to be nice, to be liked, with no reason ever offered as to why. A lack of obvious reason makes it hard to stop looking for the hidden reason.
