As long as magic doesn't wear him out too much. Rather not carry him home, or anything, if he passes out from fighting the cold and the spell at the same time.

It'll get them where they're going a little more easily, at least. And at that point, they make the decision to go home, instead of taking him to the library. Get some hot food into him. Seems like a good way to end the day.
