Why wouldn't we have bodies?

[He'd been in the Netherrealm for years, everyone had bodies. How else do you make someone suffer without being able to rip them to shreds or be in a constant state of fighting?]

It's unfortunate that when we seek to honor someone in death, we are being forced to witness their final moments. It seems... disrespectful.
