content: Community meeting, take 2! After the Dreamer/Defender incident, there's a lot to talk about and Cao Pi has encouraged everyone to come and publicly share what they learned while asleep or what ideas they have to make the next massacre less massacre-y. Feel free to handwave catching his post or hearing about it from a friend.
warnings: none likely but lmk if that changes. Threadjacking likely; if you don't want to be threadjacked, make some sort of indication.

As before, Cao Pi arrives ahead of time to ensure the town hall is ready for a session, righting any chairs that might have been thrown about in recent melees and checking the logbook for recent information. When a fair amount of people have arrived and he can see the waxing moon rising through the leafless trees outside, he rises to begin with a short intro.

"By now we know that those who succumbed to the food at the feast had a strange experience - they shared dreams with each other, in which they found themselves seeing Beacon as it was in the past. I encourage all those who dreamed, and remember it well, please tell us all what you saw. There may be considerable clues to our purpose and progress in even the smallest detail.

"The rest of us, well. We managed to make it through and I believe those who were killed are whole again, but for our part we can go over what worked and what didn't. Defending ourselves isn't merely a matter of being trained to use weapons. The spirits which attacked were formidable, powerful. We will need more than just our strength to outlast another attack. Ideas are welcome, as is any new information we have on everything from communications to threats."

That's all he'll ramble about this time, he'll take a seat and allow others to have the floor before he makes any more grandiose speeches.

Yes, you're correct. What matters is how they counted it here, and how much time has actually passed since. Either way, it more or less confirms my suspicions that despite experiencing death, this is not an afterlife. It is no one's afterlife. It is another world, much like the dimension in which I met my demise, a place outside our own realities. That is why we still experience life and can die again.

We will have to make finding that research facility a priority, then.

[There's a brief, pained expression on Ignis' face and his voice lowers, talking directly to Cao Pi instead of addressing the others as well.]

We... can't be sure of that. I remember what I did before coming here, and it certainly results in my death. It was a bargain and the price I paid. I know you are trying to give some hope to people, but giving them something false to hold onto will be bad for morale if it turns out not to be true.

[He pushes his glasses up,] What I'm trying to say is- we need more proof than this that we are alive.

[he concedes with a simple nod, lowering his head just long enough]

Fair. And I would not want to inspire anyone else to do something foolish to prove we can somehow escape if we just try hard enough. [TOTALLY LOOKING ACROSS THE ROOM TO CROWLEY NOT EVEN HIDING IT] But if understanding the true nature of what we are, as well as where we are, helps lead us to the solution for 'bringing light' as we are tasked, then I would encourage it. Leave no stone unturned, as they say.

[reigniter]

That would be best, thank you.

[He shoots Crowley a look too and rubs his temple,] The morale won't fall so long there aren't groups going up against each other. Hopefully, Keeper won't punish the entire group for a few individuals that are acting out.

[He doesn't get along with her, but he also doesn't want to incur her wrath, what with her finger on the switch.]

We will comb through everything here, so long spirits don't stop our endeavors. If they want to see us succeed, they should let us do our thing.

[before Riku's information, he would have scoffed at that, but now Cao Pi merely smiles vaguely]

Hopefully they've learned not to rush the start of their playtime and give the rest of us a chance to join.

[Ignis sighs,]

I do not want to sound like a downer, but I don't trust that promise completely. I won't actively attack the spirits but if any endangers my friends or myself, I will retaliate.

Yes, that is the way of it. We cannot simply lay around and let them kill us in the hopes we'll get to come back - given Commander Rosinante's statistics on that. Defense is not attack, and if we play our cards right, it won't look like a threat, either.
