content: Community meeting, take 2! After the Dreamer/Defender incident, there's a lot to talk about and Cao Pi has encouraged everyone to come and publicly share what they learned while asleep or what ideas they have to make the next massacre less massacre-y. Feel free to handwave catching his post or hearing about it from a friend.
warnings: none likely but lmk if that changes. Threadjacking likely; if you don't want to be threadjacked, make some sort of indication.

As before, Cao Pi arrives ahead of time to ensure the town hall is ready for a session, righting any chairs that might have been thrown about in recent melees and checking the logbook for recent information. When a fair amount of people have arrived and he can see the waxing moon rising through the leafless trees outside, he rises to begin with a short intro.

"By now we know that those who succumbed to the food at the feast had a strange experience - they shared dreams with each other, in which they found themselves seeing Beacon as it was in the past. I encourage all those who dreamed, and remember it well, please tell us all what you saw. There may be considerable clues to our purpose and progress in even the smallest detail.

"The rest of us, well. We managed to make it through and I believe those who were killed are whole again, but for our part we can go over what worked and what didn't. Defending ourselves isn't merely a matter of being trained to use weapons. The spirits which attacked were formidable, powerful. We will need more than just our strength to outlast another attack. Ideas are welcome, as is any new information we have on everything from communications to threats."

That's all he'll ramble about this time, he'll take a seat and allow others to have the floor before he makes any more grandiose speeches.

[ he's told a couple of people here and there — jason and riku, predominately, but he hasn't intended on keeping any of it to himself. his gut says it'll all start to make a little more sense when they've got the bigger picture, when they've got an idea of what everyone else experienced. that said, so far, there are still more questions than answers, but—

here they are. he hasn't yet seen villanelle (that had been her name, right? sort of sounded like a fancy french boutique); and though he thinks, loosely and vaguely, that he might have seen bruce, he doesn't think bruce is much of a speech-giver either.

whatever, there was a reason he'd enjoyed being a teacher, right? ]

—Peter Parker. [ no title; a breath of a pause. (it was the butler in the library with the candlestick—.) ] Church. The short version is: we discovered an ouroboros on the floor beneath the pews which, if I remember my Ancient Greek with a side of Ancient Egyptian correctly, was predominately used as a symbol for the circle of life, death and rebirth. [ a beat and he waves a hand. ] Periodic renewal, in other words.

There was also a note saying "we're all going to die", and—, [ creepy black tar oozing from the walls and an unpleasant smell. ], underneath the trapdoor was a tunnel. Slightly further down was a group of figures shrouded in white cloth. They didn't talk.

—Both the trapdoor and the staircase leading up to the bell tower looked as if people had either been trying to get in or get out.

[Maes froze for a moment, the notes he had been taking momentarily forgotten. He hadn't thought about it in so long, it had been over a year after all, but the mention of that symbol certainly hit home. He scrawled a quick doodle on a blank page and held it up.]

[ peter glances at the drawing, eyebrows pulling together in a quick frown as he takes in the wings and the— what was that in the centre? it's punctuated by a shake of his head, and he reaches over to take the pencil from maes. ]

No. Sorry, is it okay—? [ assuming maes is fine with him plucking the pencil from his hand, he'll draw another illustration next to maes'. it's no less hastily drawn, but the illustration itself is simpler: a snake eating its own tail, with no other adornments. ] More like that. [ a beat, and he glances back down at maes' example. there's a question there, and he wonders if it's right to ask. ]

Is that from your world?

Rebirth?

[Hugh's drawing sort of looks like a dragon. Like a certain dragon back home that was meant to save their world after killing everything. Well, now's not the time to be bitter.]

Is that symbol still there now?

Go ahead. [Maes obliges as Peter takes the pencil. He watches and does look a little relieved that the drawing is far less stylized than the symbol the homounculus from his world had used. Though just barely, since he's still trying to decide if what was happening in Beacon was worse or not than what they had been up to.]

Different enough and I suppose it is a common enough symbol. [Peter had seemed to know about it, mentioning something about Greeks or Egyptians? He nods.] Yes. It was the symbol for a group of monsters that had the appearance of people. [Beat.] One was the reason I died the first time, that one could change his shape and none of them had any regard for human life. In fact that was what they used to fuel their plans...

[But it still felt like what was happening here was different enough that he shouldn't be jumping to conclusions just because he saw this symbol. It was just hard to shake that association. He looks over at Duster.]

That's a good question.

It was under one of the seats, right? If we search hard enough in the spot you remember, we can see if something sticks over the resets.

[Yes, it will take a long time to search such a large building, but it's nothing he hasn't done before. He's got the time.]
