I would certainly make those priorities. I wouldn't mind heading up one of the expeditions myself, but I figured we might want to take some time to recover.

Though there is the matter of possibly worse weather coming and we don't know what the winters are like here. We either need to plan fast and start going out as soon as possible, or plan more carefully, allow people time to heal their wounds, and then see what is out there if the weather is still in our favor.

[He's not sure which would be the better option -- there are a lot of unknowns.]
