INTRO LOG: DECEMBER

INTRO LOG: DECEMBER
IF I HAD A HEART

characters: everyone.
location: the harbor, as well as the rest of town.
date/time: december 1-3.
content: beacon's newest batch of residents arrives on the ferry. robin posts a bulletin.
warnings: n/a.

welcome to beacon.

It's dim, and the room won't stop swaying, gently rocking you back and forth. A loud sound startles you fully awake, a deep, moaning call: a foghorn. As your eyes adjust, you note faint red light streaking through the room from a tiny, round window.

You've found yourself in a private room, lying on a bed. The last things you remember are the events that led up to your death. Beside you is a folded tablet and a lantern glowing with a healthy flame.

You're on a ship. And that ship is docking.

Making your way to the deck, and eventually the pier, you find only moonlight to greet you, and a dark forest beyond. There are other people here, each with their own unique lantern, and many of them look just as lost as you are. On the ferry you've just disembarked from, the speaker system begins to play a song.

In the distance, across the waters of the lake, you can see the tall silhouette of a lighthouse, its red light slowly turning.

•••

The ferry has barely docked when everyone's tablets will ping: A new weekly bulletin has been posted!

...Aaaaaanyway, luckily for all the newcomers, the tablet and the town have some resources available for getting acquainted with their new situation! In fact, as soon as they're prompted to enter a network username, an app containing all sorts of useful welcome information will launch. Newcomers can always check out the weekly bulletins and the records in town hall as well, and everyone's welcome to get in touch with the NPCs through their inboxes.

ooc.

Hey there, wonderful players, and welcome to In the Night! You've happened to come at a chaotic time, as we've just wrapped up a rather large event. Half the town was stuck in a dreamland version of past Beacon, where they explored for clues about the town's history. The other half stayed awake and defended the town from a brutal onslaught of green-eyed, hallucination-inducing forest spirits. The town's pretty haggard after all that, so hey, there's a conversation starter! It'll be good to have some fresh faces around to help with the recovery process.

You can check out the various Enter Mr. Sandman event posts in the OOC and log comms if you're curious, and plenty of the details will likely come up ICly, as well! The aftermath is just beginning, and we're so glad to have you along for the ride. :)

DELIVERIES

The following packages can be found in the cargo hold:
  • The monthly store restock
  • For Eliot: A carton of cigarettes
  • For Prompto: 17 pairs of reading glasses
  • For Eleven: A pair of walkie-talkies, and enough batteries to last for 3 months of casual use
  • For Aziraphale: 12 drums, 11 lead pipes, 10 pairs of shoes, 9 wilting corsages, 8 bottles of milk, 7 taxidermy swans, 6 goose eggs, 5 stale onion rings, 4 bins full of duck armies, 3 dead chickens, 2 turtles, and a whole tree, though it's long dead... and strung with lights and garlands and holiday ornaments!
  • For Kol: A book
  • For Crowley: Peppermint extract, cream of tartar, a candy thermometer, a tin of cocoa, graham crackers, a generic bottle of red wine, a t-shirt with a crown logo on it, a book of love poems, and the goods
  • For Eleven: An assortment of wrapping paper, gift tags, ribbons, bows, and gift bags.
  • A lot of medical supplies. The supplies are plentiful enough that everyone may handwave finding common first aid supplies that will help to triage injuries sustained during the Enter Mr. Sandman event. The supplies won't immediately cure wounds, but they will help to prevent infection and ensure proper healing. There's even an assortment of painkillers, ranging from over the counter pills to IV morphine (though, hm, it seems each character will only be able to find one dose of the hospital-grade stuff, no matter how hard they search)

If you submitted an item request last month and we've missed it here, let us know!

"Yes, he's like that. He likes to protect others, no matter what he says," Aziraphale responds. "And me, that's what I'm meant to do, as an angel," he adds. "Well, sort of." He had gotten in some trouble for trying to heal people during the Black Death.

No. I could try. Maybe on a very cloudy day.

I'd like to be able to shed this form. Up there, when no one can see.

[ Yes he knows this is cryptic-sounding, sorry Rosi. ]
callada: (are you actually high right now?)

[personal profile] callada 2019-12-25 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
callada: (Cool Dude TM)

[personal profile] callada 2019-12-25 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[The fuck does that mean, dude?]

I... take it you mean more than just spreading your wings. You don't usually look like this?
worthallthis: (told you so)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2019-12-25 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
A household of protectors. Some better than others, but still. The Soldier gazes out across the church. Empty still, and would be for days. (Not forever, though. Definitely not.) "He'd be a lot happier," they say, "if he stopped pretending to be an asshole. That he doesn't care. He actually admitted he'd try to save everyone, you know. During the attacks. Helped bring people inside."
lunchbreaks: (Default)

[personal profile] lunchbreaks 2019-12-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I do usually look like this!

[ He says, casually, distractedly. ]

Or I have for the last six thousand years, you know, but. This is merely a body for my soul. If I were to look as how I am without this, it would drive the humans mad, you see, so it's considered very rude to not have a human form.

[ Well, that was a lot of information that Rosi probably did not need. ]

I prefer to look like this, actually. It's neat, and very small, easy to maintain. Tidy. And much easier to speak to everyone.

[personal profile] lunchbreaks 2019-12-25 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Did he?" he asks, genuinely surprised. "He was an angel once, you know. He'll say it was a long time ago if you remind him. He doesn't like talking about it. But he was, and I think-- I think being around humans has helped him distance himself from the other demons. But at the same time, he'd have gotten in a load of trouble with Hell for being helpful. It's a hard habit to break, being a demon. You'll have to go easy on him."

[ Vanitas isn't in the business of helping people out. He'd actively gotten involved during the siege with the spirits and had gotten killed for his efforts. This is a far cry for the urgency of that scenario, but the fact remains that he isn't much of a cooperative person anyway. Having the idea of his worth being directly correlated to his solitude and the power he got from that is ingrained deeply into him.

That said, he's more than willing to play along if he thinks he'll get something out of it. Vanitas unfolds his arms. ]

Why would it need a key?

[ He sounds derisive, but the arch of his expression betrays that this is a serious question, and not just sarcasm. ]
callada: (ahora empiezo a retratar)

[personal profile] callada 2019-12-25 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Driving people mad is pretty rude, to say the least. He's not really sure what to make of all this, but he nods along, while failing to picture what kind of sight might actually cause spontaneous insanity.]

So your other form is much less small, and much less tidy, I take it.

[Whatever that means? No he's trying to understand, but this is a new one for him.]
lunchbreaks: (you say lord i say christ)

[personal profile] lunchbreaks 2019-12-25 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's very hard to explain. But I can't show you, either.

Just in case.

[ He won't put Rosinante in danger like that. ]

And-- well, I'm not limited to a size. That's a very human concept.

But anyway, the point is. Yes, I'll try to see if I can fly above the clouds.
callada: (dress best in boldly-striped sweaters)

[personal profile] callada 2019-12-25 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Understandable and appreciated. He has enough problems without adding insanity to the list.]

Thanks, and good luck.

[With more than just the flight. Waiting in the church is unpleasant, bittersweet stuff. He stands, figuring it's time to take his leave.]

[personal profile] worthallthis 2019-12-25 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
That's one thing the Soldier understands pretty well: being a victim of the conditioning of the past, barely remembering what you used to be but knowing it was something better. Even real people have programming, sometimes. They nod slowly. "Of course. He's my friend."
mellowyellow: (hey you leave my anime porn out of this)

[personal profile] mellowyellow 2019-12-25 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Spooky? He dresses like an overexcited kpop group.

The entire group. Condensed into one asshole.

I don't know if I'm ready to call him a frenemy yet.

He's more like annoyquaintance.
antiwhat: (🎵 oops.)

[personal profile] antiwhat 2019-12-25 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Chapel Rock, in the Village," Ellever answers. "I'm roomies with Castiel, if you know him."

Her face twists at the irony, whenever she so much as thinks about what it's called. Yes, the angel and the supposed antichrist live in Chapel Rock. It's a few steps away from being a sitcom of some kind.

She cants her head to the side, curiously. A lot about Soldat — Mr. Helpful — is still a mystery for her. And it's going to stay that way, mostly, she has a hunch. But, logistically, there are a few things she thinks might be good to know. Such as —

"You?"
antiwhat: (🎵 pleased.)

[personal profile] antiwhat 2019-12-25 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ellever nods, extending an arm in front of her to inspect the damage — things seem to be calming down a tiny bit after the antiseptic, and she's glad for any change. She's also glad that they can agree that that phrase just goads reality on. ]

A talent, huh? Would you take it up to a talent show?

[ She's just joking, expression too soft to mean anything by it. If they can't joke (or complain) about things, are they even alive? ]
antiwhat: (🎵 :C)

[personal profile] antiwhat 2019-12-25 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ She glances back at Dana, as best she can. ]

Oh, yeah. All the time. But, uh. I'm sure you can see that some of them are a little deeper than the others.

[ The wildly flailing claws of the green spirits had been less occupied with accuracy and more occupied with just getting a hit in to slow her down. Pain drags you down, makes it easier for your opponent to get a better mark in. Unfortunately for them, pain for Ellever is an unpleasant reminder of the foretold end of a prophecy; it just makes her want to fight, and snarl, more. ]

And the, um. Skin got tangled with a couple, but that's healed. Mostly. You sure you don't mind doing this? I wouldn't want to make you work in the afterlife. [ A pause. ] Or whatever this place is.
worthallthis: (sad 2)

[personal profile] worthallthis 2019-12-25 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly, all she'd need to do is outright ask. The Soldier doesn't really think anything of answering truthfully to questions about their past. Or, sometimes, their present. "Village, too. Miner's Castle. With Crowley and Aziraphale." The thought of crashing on the couch sounds like the best idea ever, and yet also the worst thing in the world. The house is still empty. That's wrong. It shouldn't be empty.

Maybe they can go stay at Misty's instead.

Well, she's braver than a lot of people I've know, that's for sure.

( he's going to have to find some time to meet this young woman. )

I'm actually impressed because I don't know if anyone's tried to do that yet. She might be the key to figuring out how to coexist if they haven't harmed her yet.

that's an insult to kpop, at least those dudes seem like they can dance

he's not that bad. i've met far more aggressive scene kids, i promise you.

[personal profile] vampirella 2019-12-25 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds a little too much like effort to me, sunshine.

( that's not her speed, she prefers to coast through her afterlife as much as possible. primetime complaining is basically just standup comedy, and while she's got a biting sense of humor and could probably do it if she wanted to... she doesn't. it's putting out more energy than she's inclined to put towards something that would largely benefit others. she's got enough brain cells to rub together that she can tell it was just a joke, at least, and plays back in relative kind.. )

I like to keep my exceptional talents to small and personal audiences. ( she's not a smiler, but it's clear that she's clearly not offended, either. it takes a hell of a lot more to do that, truth be told. that said, the girl seems to have her wound-swabbing in relative order, and Carmilla wants to keep poking around town. so, she shifts to her feet. )

Good luck with the first aid, I need to go scare out a place to sleep. Whenever that happens, considering the eternal darkness and everything.
mellowyellow: (shut up i just want to talk about trees)

[personal profile] mellowyellow 2019-12-25 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
He's dirty tease bad. That's pretty bad in my book!

[As in teasing information. Is Masaomi going to clarify that? Naw. He's too busy being irritated at a guy he's only spoken to once.]

It's way easier to get the aggressive ones to cool off.
vampirella: (0027)

[personal profile] vampirella 2019-12-25 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
i get it, homoerotic subtext can be so frustrating

( is that not what he meant? ?? look, in her defense, he really could have phrased it better! )

just don't feed into the energy, they run out of steam when you don't give them the reaction they want. or, at least, they bail to piss off someone else. either way, you win.
vampirella: (pic#)

[personal profile] vampirella 2019-12-25 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it's way more work to hotwire it?

( has he been living under a rock, or just in some place without modern conveniences? she doesn't want to spare any energy for feeling bad for this kid, but the fact he's so sheltered doesn't exactly bode well. she's met toddlers that have a better understanding of how vehicles work. maybe he's just from a world where motorcycles didn't exist, but that's still kinda sad in its own way.

she shrugs, half-heartedly fishing through the mass of papers and parts that seem to spread endlessly over the top of it.
)

This place did repairs, they'd have to collect the keys so they can start the engine. So if the bikes are still here, in theory, the keys probably are too. ( not anywhere obvious, unfortunately, like a peg board with clear labels, but apparently undeath isn't willing to do her any favors. )
lunchbreaks: (won't you take me home tonight)

[personal profile] lunchbreaks 2019-12-26 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. Thank you, Rosinante.

I hope that I'll be back soon, but you are welcome to bring anyone else by as well. For healing.

[ Or company. He'd like some company. ]
mewtiny: the island is gone (♔ there goes hawaii)

[personal profile] mewtiny 2019-12-26 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a brief moment where it just stands there, eyes closed. Maybe it's trying to do a zen pose. Who knows? After a second, its eyes snap back open.]

Nor can I. [Yeah, it just wanted to once again prove that just because YOU, random human-looking woman, can't do something doesn't mean that IT can't, but apparently yes it does.]

It appears that it does not want us to leave. To what purpose is this vessel? Where is it's destination?

[The psychic talking doesn't discriminate, so it's easy to believe this is all directed at her, but Mewtwo is staring directly at the door and standing mere inches from it- it's trying to talk to some mind that it can't even feel exists- whatever is behind that door. If anything, it may have just forgotten Carmilla is still there in it's decision to turn all its focus to whatever captains this boat.

This is going well.]
