I. On the Ferry Deck During the Hijacking

The Soldier has one of its guns out, just in case. They’re stealing something-- they’re going up against whoever, whatever is on that boat. That requires weapons.

Once it’s made certain Aziraphale is settled safely below-decks and Crowley isn’t going to do anything too stupid (well, more stupid than that yell, ugh), it stalks to the cabin with the controls and starts with the most likely one to be the engine control, based on its experiences (not fully remembered, but still there, beneath the level of consciousness) with similar machines. The goal being to reverse the ferry’s direction. With luck they won’t have to turn the thing around and can just reverse... but the Soldier is ready for any possibility. Including that this won’t work at all, and it will have to find the real controls somewhere else.

Anyone approaching gets a gun leveled in their face, without the Soldier even looking up from what it's doing.

The one possibility it wasn't expecting was sudden ramming speed the instant it got the engine turned back on. Going in the wrong direction. Oh shit.

II. Directly After the Crash

After spending about 1 full minute on the shore after Crowley ordered it off the ferry (probably the only reason it's not injured more than a few scratches), "orders" run out and the Soldier can act on its internal (and slightly external) panic and dives into the water to start pulling out people, packages, anything it can get its metal hand on. The Soldier keeps going back in until someone stops it, or when its arm shorts out after a couple hours of being constantly submerged with water and it has to struggle to shore with only one arm, the other twitching and zapping the rest of him periodically.

III. Afterwards

While its arm dries out and until it has a chance to do some maintenance on it, the Soldier can't swim any further, but it'll carry things to the Invincible or help anyone with basic first aid. This is all the Soldier's fault (as far as it's concerned) and it will be doing everything in its power to help clean up the mess.
